| ATTACK Detected: Xmas attack from WAN (ip:17.172.232.185) detected.

Hi on my router log I found this Aug 25 18:02:16 | ATTACK Detected: Xmas attack from WAN (ip:17.172.232.185) detected. Packet dropped. The ip leads to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/17.172.232.185 What the fuck? what does it mean? Can it be someone who uses mac computer or what? Can someone explain it to me? Thanks in advance!🤝
it is most likely a mistake, i don't think Apple hosts any servers, your router probably misunderstood a apple program for an attack
Apple hacked your shit they want acces to your shit bcuz you accept the ToS RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIFE THROW AWAY ALL YOUR APPLE STUFF

Probably just an error like Zapp said.

internal facepalm

Where do you think you get the iOS updates etc. from?
I rather think the router was from Apple. :)
And I think someone indeed tried to attack you but your ISP/router blocked the attack.

I recommend you get a good firewall + block ICMP requests. :)

Anyone launching an XMAS scan on you was either a f*cking noob or didn't think you would actually notice.

It was literally called an XMAS scan because all the flags in the packet are checked so that it is 'lit up like a christmas tree' just to see how your hardware would respond.

Its not exactly ninja stealth . . . . I wouldn't be too concerned.

Actually, they use the Akamai cloud for most of their hosting needs. This is probably iTunes barfing when making the connection to the servers. (old joke here) MY WIFE's iphone does this all the damn time.
Dude you're fucked Apple attacks are incurable.

Ok I have blocked ICMP requests ;-) Can you recommend me any good tutorial on how to get the best professional security for windows 8? I would be really happy for your help 🤝 Atm I have only malware protection Malwarebytes pro.

Asking for security on Windows is like asking a dry sea, it isn't possible. :-)

However, you can get close by using these tools:
Avast (or a better paid AV, like Panda/Bullguard).
MBAM Anti-Malware
MBAM Anti-Exploit
MBAM Anti-Rootkit
Zemana Anti-Logger
Z0neAlarm Firewall
Firefox together with VTZilla add-on

Download:

http://www.avast.com
https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/ (All MBAM found here)
http://www.zemana.com/
http://www.zonealarm.com/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vtzilla/

Avast to block viruses, MBAM for finding + removing other malware like trojans, anti-exploit to avoid exploits, and anti-rootkit to remove possible rootkits.

Zemana encrypts your key-strokes so key-loggers don't work on you.
Z0NEAlarm is a good firewall to block malicious incoming/outgoing requests.
VTZilla is a Firefox add-on to make you browse and download more safe. ;)

However, the most safe is still:
Linux: http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php
Linux-AV: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4363143

That's all pretty save. ;)

Good luck!
Probably some skid you made mad off of xbox or something and he found this program. Xmas attack is not stealthy at all.
