[FREE] [EBOOK] The Hacker Ethos - Beginner's Primer to Ethical Hacking

(Jul 29, 2015 05:18 AM)Nomad.Null Wrote:  Thanks for the bum p, Sin. The book is receiving an update very soon. I'd love to have a second opinion and proof-reader take a peak at it before-hand, if you're interested.

I'd love to take a look at this update, if you don't mind.
The final update has been finished. The new View-only link has replaced the old one. The old links will still remain active, but will no longer be shown.

Thank you everyone for your tremendous support and for all of your feedback.

This is the FINAL FREE EDITION of The Hacker Ethos. Look for it in the premium e-books section from now on. After several more pages of content is added, and once this edition receives a good proof-reading and has had it's final polish put on it, the premium edition will become available for purchase. By the time the E-book is officially published , it will likely be well-over 500 pages and be priced at around $50 to the public. ONCE IT IS RELEASED FOR PURCHASE HERE, IT WILL BE PRICED AT JUST $15.

Yes, that's right. When I post my premium e-book here, you will not only be getting early access, but you will also be getting it for less than a third of it's final price. I will ONLY be posting it here on HF for that price.

This is just a heads up. The book has only just received this most recent update which has more than doubled it's size. I'm extremely exhausted and need a break for a while. I'll probably be going on a Vacation-ban here as well. Going on a nice week-long vacation to see the ocean.

I want to thank you all one last time for all of your awesome support for this book. It got HUGE and FAST, and I never expected that. It gives me hope for this community that not everyone is a total skid around here. I'm glad to see that everything me and the other HQ members around here are doing is beginning to pay off.

You all have been awesome and I can't say thank-you enough.

Yeah, I've been around a while
Just skimmed through some parts again:
You make statements as: "...but if you want to be a great hacker, you'll need to learn several, not just once". Page 21 start.
I disagree with you, learn how to program now how to code in a language. The important part to emphasis here is getting comfortable with the logic.

About your recommendations in "Things you need to get"
Just writing Intel i5 processor says absolutely nothing, mention at least what generation and if they want better VM compatibility, make sure that it has support for VT-d. (check on ark.intel.com)
16GB is overkill as hell. Unless you are running something close to a server. 8 GB is enough as standard, and can upgrade if you roll in money.

Page 64: "...This is called Reverse Engineering".
Yes and no, you are making it sound like JUST deciphering is same thing as RE, which is not.

Page 64, the 3 paragraphs after "ONE CAVEAT... "
You give literally 0 information, just "because the mathematics work out in such a way".

You haven't (or at least not that I have seen) made any modifications mentioned in my previous post, except for javascript and java.

The book itself is very generic and doesn't really "stand-out" compared to other books, doesn't have anything "exclusive" either.
Using very informal language making it look not serious.
However, it's still probably the best book produced by someone on hf.

Looks like I have some corrections to make.

I really have nothing to say about the informality of the book. It isn't meant to be formal. It's meant to be easy to understand, to inform someone who knows next to nothing on this entire topic.

However, I still appreciate your candidness.

Yeh I am picky sometimes, but it's for the greater good and I am not trying to flame, sorry if it came out that way.

Not at all, this is all very good criticism. I'll take all of it with a grain of salt. The final published work that you all will eventually see will certainly need a ton of editing for professionalism's sake, but here on HF, you are getting my purest, unadulterated word-vomit on what I know. It's a first draft. It won't look pretty, of course, but this gives me the chance to work on it.

Wow, looks nice. Thanks for giving back to the community!
Appreciate the hard work you put into this, True Demon. I always point beginners who are actually interested in real hacking to this thread.
Hey, newcomers! If you haven't taken a look at this eBook, I suggest you do. It goes in-depth into almost everything you should know.

Lol, I had a feeling I fucked that up but was too lazy to check. I'll fix it asap. I have some proof reading and corrections to do throughout the book this week.
