Introduction

Thanks for the interest. So you dont want to be such a skid anymore, but you also don't have the greatest amount of time to specialize.
This thread wont contain Extreme depth of details like a lot of Video Resources to get you out of the "How to hack a facebook" part of your life. This will take you well above the average persons knowledge.

IF ANYONE WANTS A VISUAL PRINTABLE CHECKLIST HERE YA GO
Spoiler (Click to View)

Basic Programming

There are a few videos i personally used, i suggest doing these first, this will give you a basic knowledge of some programming languages and will help you out once you finish the rest of the videos.

Python -- https://goo.gl/3ZYxEU
Java -- https://goo.gl/MydXnY
PHP -- https://goo.gl/wtxuQ2
MySQL -- https://goo.gl/W1jxUp
Javascript -- https://goo.gl/a57Uxo

This should take you a few hours, try not to over do things. Take it slowly so that you actually remember things, as studying different languages with different syntaxes can be hard.

Basic Web Design

This surprisingly is a very useful thing to learn. It will help you throughout your computer science life. So why not pick it up now.

I hope you have had an Interesting read
As someone who has been through a Cyber Security course; I will second everything stated above as solid material for anyone wanting to learn the ethical way. But every non-ethical hacker needs to know ethical hacking as well.

Very good informative post OP.

Very good stuff several important topics here, having a strong background will help later on during engagements.
thanks ever so much for all the resorces you've made my studies alot easier for me for the next week or so :)

Much appreciated!

Only problem i got with this post is that elie's videos on networking are 6-7 years old, i mean could some subjects he talks about change or smth(if u know what i mean)?

New technologies and protocols were introduced since then but at the same time the old ones are still in use by the vast majority of users, he also talks about standards such as the OSI model and TCP connections, these can't really change. Of course you don't have to watch those videos as your only resource for networking, it's just to give you the basics.
A lot of information and a great foundation.

Most resources on the internet are outdated; yes. But as a "security professional", you should know to look for the updated information and make any changes needed to meet any requirement needed. Another great tool would be GOOGLE. I don't care what people say... If you don't know how to Google to get any information you want or need, then you don't have the strive in the first place to even complete 8% of the above content provided. Not everything is handed to you. Go out and get "everything".

Thankfully fundamentals don't change, even if outdated it's still useful as he covers core topics
What a shitty way to learn. Why would anyone ever start with all those languages like that, and why is Java in there at this point?
"This should take you a few hours, try not to over do things. Take it slowly so that you actually remember things, as studying different languages with different syntaxes can be hard."
wtf? have you ever actually opened an ide or performed any attacks?

"This surprisingly is a very useful thing to learn. It will help you throughout your computer science life. So why not pick it up now."
why is a bootstrap video in here?

Why would I start studying for CEH before doing anything other than watching a bunch of networking videos and skimming through random syntax?

Why, when studying for CEH, are there a bunch of random topics anyone who follows this guide simply won't understand? Why am I jumping from skimming through "MySQL" synax to sqli? (which, by the way, isn't exclusive to MySQL)

Why am I getting into "hacking basics" like using a disposable email, the "deep web", and metasploit after studying for CEH?

Very good informative post OP.

Out of curiosity, would you call yourself a "private investigator"? If no, was your cyber security course a Udemy (warez disallowed) course?

What does it mean to know ethical hacking as a non-ethical hacker?

8. What the fuck are you even saying?

1-5 wait for OP to explain as this is his post; and I don't see a need to waste my time on all the characters needed to explain.

6. Yes you could call "Cyber Security Personnel" a P.I., but that is only for certain job requirements. And for your Udemy (warez disallowed) lesson, I laugh at your bliss. I attended an actual college good sir, which placed me in classes for information needed to take certification tests, so I see this post as a free informative thread for taking some of the required certs..

7. In other words, if you know the ethical way, which pertains of methods of hiding yourself as a non-ethical hacker would do. You learn the opposing side of things so therefor you know what to do and not to do. Leave a trace and you're effed my man. Leave a trace even as an ethical hacker, you're effed as you have failed the required tasks at hand.

8. Learn how to google for the information not available in this post and figure out what is needed. As the person stated Eli's videos are from years ago and some things have been updated, so I stated google for the updated information and implement into the provided information given by OP. But I guess you can't even understand such a simple statement.

People these days do not know how to teach themselves anything. If you can not learn new things when needed on your own, then you will have a difficult time in the cyber world.

Do you mean you laugh at my ignorance?

And education is nice. I think you need more of it if you think this thread has any value. Keep it up.

why would me leaving a trace as an ethical hacker mean I failed the required task at hand

You got me there, there certainly is a lot you're gonna have to start googling if you want to even slightly benefit from this post. Unfortunately your statement wasn't so simple, though. I mean, it was at least complex enough for there to be information left out during translation from a load of shit to broken english. Let's revisit it.

I think that's enough revisiting for now

didn't you go to college? that doesn't sound like teaching yourself to me! if anything, that's more like cheating yourself. 😠

Too shay on my English. No matter. Difficult to know more languages than one.
🤝

I see no need to debate with someone on their own separate concerns on a thread.
Each to their own opinions good sir.

But to answer one question relative to the original post; for someone hired to "hack" into systems to leave a trace is wrong as you have now left information on system for anyone else to access. You must know certain tasks.

Seeing as i have numerous hacking certs and got offered a Internship at IBM for security pretty sure i have.

""This surprisingly is a very useful thing to learn. It will help you throughout your computer science life. So why not pick it up now."

Good skill to have, not required but its a good skill. What kind of web app hacker could you be if you dont understand how to make a website. Its simply a good short thing to learn. Why discourage it. It expands their job range, they may find that they are more interested in web dev rather than hacking when they get to this stage, so stop being ignorant.

""Why would I start studying for CEH before doing anything other than watching a bunch of networking videos and skimming through random syntax?""

Its one of the most easy Hackign exams, they dont go into depth with anything just give you an introduction to the hacking world.

"Why am I getting into "hacking basics" like using a disposable email, the "deep web", and metasploit after studying for CEH?"
Recaps and good stuff to go over. As stated this is for beginners entirely, just by covering this material wont make you know everything its a guide line.

To be efficient at being blackhat you must fully understand white hat hacking, this will give you an advantage over those who are trying to stop you. End of arguement

Last of all whats the point in commenting so much shit, its made for people who dont have much time and this will get them far out of the skid area by just watching it. Maybe stop blowing smoke up your own ass and try helping will get you far?
Very good tutorials nice thx for sharing the list.
