Is the decision permanent? I hope it comes back.

Thats so stupid if you had a shit product youd have so many 1 starts, i felt it was a great feature those who complained are probably those with terrible products and constant complaints. Never had a problem with fake ratings or anything. Forum looks boring

Your logic is pretty flawed but I see your opinion. You could have a whole discord of friends and get them to 1 star your thread. The thread ratings are not a accurate test of product quality imo, it's more like high school popularity. No if you have a shit product you'll have a ton of bad reviews, anyone can 1 star a thread. I don't care if they go or if they stay I'm fine with both. I can see how it was abused though. My last thoughts on it. But don't forget that some competitors or random members or friends of competitors or people who had personal vendetta with OP would 1 rate sales thread which could affect the sales tremendously. I think the star rating system should be enabled everywhere on HF except marketplace (IMO, don't take it granted). But I do agree that now looks less attractive overall than before. It was spicy feature, haha. 🤝 HF Member Since 2010

Maybe create tags that are auto generated on threads that have high amounts of feedback based on the views or replies a thread is getting? Like "hot topic" or "controversial." The equivalent for the marketplace would be to add a thread rating that automatically updates based on the amount of successfully completed contracts using that thread ID. This way it only promotes threads in both area's that are higher quality that are attracting viewership/successful products. Conversely driving more traffic to people who are making good topics/sales threads. Just throwing out ideas.
Tbh, after I got gang negative ratings on a sales thread by other competitors a few years back, I just never used thread ratings or even looked at them when viewing a thread. So, I think this change was very nice. (Mar 8, 2019 04:44 PM)Xerotic Wrote: Throwback to 2011 when thread ratings were disabled Because omni says that in the OP? Its normally once you start acting like a dick that people will target you. I see your perspective too, but it was useful for those members who couldnt post and those who where new
I liked them and didn't mind them. People put too much weight into things and if your product isn't getting sales because of your thread having 1 star, maybe that's an issue with your thread, not the system? They're so easy to counteract now; if 10 people gang repped you it'd cost 100~ bytes to counteract that in the first place.
It does look kinda plain without the rating system, but it's what the people wanted so i can't complain.
Maybe you can set up a system within the marketplace threads where it shows a little banner or something where the ratings used to be that will say something like "Amazing Seller" or "Trusted Seller" or "Popular Seller/Product" or something along those lines that automatically goes based on the amount of completed contracts a specific thread has, like a different kind of rating system that can't really be abused because it goes based on the number of completed contracts within that specific thread.

Back to the old era of HF? 🎉
I loved the ratings, it wasn't a good representation of what a product was like, because everyone else looked at vouches instead. It was just a visual aspect to make a thread more click-worthy, that's all. So sad that it's gone now. EDIT: Time to buy sales tag instead!
