It did.
I’ve never conducted an actual test but over the years, it seemed as if 4-5 stars attracted hefty business. Whereas 3 stars slowed things down.
This is huge when it comes to the fundamentals of pulling in a customer on a marketing perspective.

If someone got some negative ratings, they could've just bought some stars with bytes, it was a weird market....

But were the 4/5 star products better products or not? And were those 3 star products just mediocre? IMHO the star ratings were just fine for reflecting a threads popularity and quality. I know there was some abuse but I don't believe it was rampant. I just think some got butthurt over the random 1 star gangs when it hit their thread and they blamed their lack of sales on the stars and not their shit product/service.

For the most part, 4/5 star products were better products. 3 star mediocre.
The random 1 star gang ratings were what caused an issue but ultimately, the system was pretty solid.

Cool! Cant wait to see what you and Xerotic cooks up!
I literally was just 5-starring the entire java section for funzies. Occasionally people would PM me about it, which was funny. Sad to see 'em go.

Rating abuse decreased since alerts so it's sad to see them go
I think thread ratings should JUST be disabled in marketplace forums as that is where the complaints are coming from. They are somewhat useful for threads in the lounge when trying to decide if a thread is worth opening up and reading. Having it disabled would also almost eliminate the gang thread rating raids as users would be less enticed to rate competitors thread negatively.
This would also keep the forum from feeling "boring". On this note, I would also add in different colours based on the theme of the site. For example, purple starts for the purple theme. This would make the site seem more "seamless."
Just my 2 cents.

Its a good thing. People always asked in low Member contests to "leave 5 star review on this 2 threads" etc.
I guess its a f... JOKE. The content doesnt matter , if you have ub3r friends you can ask all to leave 5 star reviews...
But i know a good idea (maybe).
So i think it would be good like this :
- After people buy your method/service they could leave review after 24 hours , i mean STAR RATING, but only for buyery!! So no fake reviews.
- After this they could change it 1 more times, if method stop working or they dont get payments anymore
- Buyers could also rate the method's originality , for example : Public , Medium-Quality, Never seen before, High-Quality or similiar to this
Sorry for my English, btw its just my idea, dont attack me, i dont know if its good idea or not lol
I remember when thread ratings used to be a way to bully members.
Never really cared either way for them, but I see what you mean.
I only do deals onsite through PM's/Contracts.
I do not use Discord, or Skype, or talk to members offsite whatsoever.

Took me a full 4 days to realize they were removed. Yeah, it looks kind of boring now that I look at it.

I've never minded them and while only semi-useful I thought visually they added something to the forumdisplay pages. Members have asked me to alter or remove them for a while now. At one point in HF history they were completed disabled. We don't have a plan to replace them but that's something I'm considering. Realistically any system to rate threads is so similar to the Thread Ratings system of MyBB that I don't see why we just don't use it. Adding B-Ratings isn't appropriate because that's only for Marketplace. Running 2 system is too much wasted resources imho.
So for now many of you have your wish and Thread Ratings are disabled. IMHO the forums look a lot plainer now, almost boring. Actually bothers me already how plain the pages are.
Happy now?
I believe that is is a good feature to have thread ratings, but maybe a lil more moderated? Like, for example a public history of who rated the thread and a manually description about why, so people know if a thread has 1/5 just beucase the one that rated is just hating the authour (like the stupid communist that rated my thread just because he is a socialist dumb ass), or 5/5 just because they are friends.
Or maybe just add some rules about when it is allowed to rate, for example after contracts, or for scam, only if you test the service/pdf/method that is being offered, or for breaking the rules, or ban the rates just from friends as a favor, etc...
Also prohibit the rating sells or trades, etc.
I honestly think it is a good and necessary feature
I used to sell nice stuff on HF.

Waiting patiently to see what you guys will come up with to replace the thread ratings. Always excited to see new stuff, as you manage to never disappoint.
