We are being punished because we made an upgrade in the past?

The only thing I can think of is this. Ub3rs are a big part of what HF was from ~2010-2016 or so. Ub3r was the group to be in, and it was the ub3rs who really cared about HF and kept coming back day in and day out for years and years.

Now HF is trying to evolve into something new, HF can't survive by remaining stagnant and major changes and innovation is necessary for a forum to survive in 2019. The issue is, the biggest demographic who are going to fight back against these changes are ub3rs who don't want to see the site they know and love to change. A lot of ub3rs, myself included, miss the old days on this forum and aren't entirely enthusiastic about change that takes us further away from those old days. Some of us realize it's a necessity, some of us don't and want to fight back.

So if I had to guess, Omni is sick of constantly fighting with people within our usergroup. He wants to push this site forward, and wants to do so without backlash. You get rid of ub3rs, then suddenly you're only left with a newer era of users, users who won't be as opposed to change.

(Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, don't reply to this saying "but I'm an ub3r and I love the recent changes!" He's looking at us as a group, not as individuals.)

It took me a while to figure it out as well. I had to manually play with the URL naming convention to get it to display like that.

The problem that I was having when viewing https://hackforums.net/online.php is that there was no sorting option displayed. I had to add "?action=list&sort=group" to get it to display properly and then the sorting option displayed at that point.

I am not sure if the R00t group is some sort of punishment for Past ubers? Or is it just to change the theme of the site? Would be cool to get a confirmation on why it is.

From what I recall a few members upset omni. I don't blame him if that's the reason. But there is a lot of genuine members here left that are not cocky. Does r00t plan on getting more features and options or something like that? I don't mind the new group, I just hope I'm not being punished for something someone else said or did. There will always be bad apples in a large group. Obviously what I say won't make a difference but i'll be happy if it's at least considered. A lot of people pretty much grew up on this site as Ubers a lot matured etc. Well, I know i did. Root looks nice as hell. Not complaining at all just my feedback. I'll be happy with Uber and the good memories =p

I think it may actually be an attempt to slowly push ubers off the site. I can see why Omni may want to do that, but I can't say I agree with it.

That's some deep level thinking. I honestly think if its true, he'll just delete the usergroup and we'll all be downgraded to the next step down, then we can upgrade from there. I don't mind that too much I guess, but would have been nice to have left it as a vanity group and I feel the same way about R3KT. Neither really do anything new, and I won't moan if R00T is being pushed, but not sure why my hundreds of hours and money investment is being taken away bit by bit and members are laughing at me because I spent 10 years on this site enjoying it, learning, earning money, and making friends. Whatever the outcome, I'm sure I'll be here another 10 years, but heck, it stings a little.
