We hope to have this feature on HF today. It's not going to be fully complete but it will be functional.

You will be able to create room chats. We are calling it "Convos" to distinguish it from PMs. It will be a live chat system which will also allow for group chats up to 10 members in one room.

We will not be replacing the PM system with this. It's a supplement. PM's are an integral part of MyBB and it would be a lot of work to replace that system. Over time we may choose to do that but for now we'll just add Convos as a new feature.

I hope that we can have it on HF by the end of the day and everyone can begin to use it. So far testing at KnotBB has been great and we're just finishing up some coding to make it just right for launch.

Awesome feature, especially if you're contacting multiple people about the same thing it would be much easier to have a chat room setup for it.

This will be super useful for those who use a middleman in their services. Set up a quick room with both party members plus the middleman and boom, you're set to discuss. On site chat = HF proof to more easily handle any disputes.
