Sui | Unlock the freedom to build powerful assets

SUI seems less like blockchain and more like clearinghouse technology. Same could be said of Radix I suppose too.

On the SUI site they define themselves as L1 Blockchain. Whereas Radix literally has no mention of the word "blockchain" on their home page. They call themselves a DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology), which I think SUI falls into the category.

I know I'm getting into nitpicking about terms but it bothers me that something is advertising something it is not. I'm saying very little that's important about their technology though.

SUI-3183372 anything showing their TPS testing results?

I agree, I often wonder if I'm misspeaking when I call Sui a blockchain. 'Programmable Transaction Blocks' probably help satisfy the requirement of being a Blockchain.

This is one of the more detailed write ups on their TPS testing, including methodology and how different parameters effect the TPS.
https://blog.sui.io/sui-performance-update/

I was unaware that this testing was taking place, so when I saw the chain at 140k TPS I was shocked and took a screenshot:

This wasn't the peak, but it was the highest I witnessed at the time.

There was an additional write up by a third party written about the tests. I'm trying to find it now because it gave additional insight into the numbers and the types of transactions taking place.

Hasn't Radix tested beyond that? I believe they are over 1m TPS.

Just comparing to guess market reaction. You can't be Ethereum or Bitcoin anymore. And if Sui just does similar to Radix, and XRD has performed poorly, then what makes you think Sui can perform well in the market?

I'm not sure, the 1m figure always seemed a little farfetched to me. In pure test environments entirely controlled by Dan, perhaps. Can they hit anywhere close to that when the community is running the network? The 140k figure from my screenshot was on network of I believe 98 community validators and 2-4 Mysten validators. The larger figure that Mysten boasts is on a private testnet they control. They were running tests on both, but the larger and more resource intensive tests were done on their private testnet.

Builders and smart contracts on mainnet launch.

Sui has hundreds of projects being built on it, and this is excluding NFTs. Day 1 the biggest bridges were supporting Sui, allowing USDC, USDT, and pretty much all EVM and Cosmos assets to exists on Sui. Day 1 you didn't need to buy in from an exchange, you could have bridged your eth or sol or whatever over and swapped it for Sui on any number of fully operational swaps or DEX's. Sui's NFT landscape is already moving millions in volume.

Sui has reasons for new money to enter its ecosystem. Projects like Radix, Aleph Zero, etc, we hope that what they have built will attract builders to begin building on chain, to give reasons for new money to flow in. So far, they've failed to do that. AZERO has smart contracts now and it's a ghost town. Price has been steadily falling. Radix, they're coming soon, and we can only hope builders will follow.

Edit: Sui is also the first blockchain that can support web3 gaming on a massive scale. Games that people may actually want to play can be built now, evolve past those shitty cash grab games (that's not to say shitty cash grabs won't exist, they certainly will).
Well pricing wise it's hitting new lows.

Right now the only real safe play imho is Bitcoin. For all we know Sui could drop to 10 cents before it begins to move the needle. Again, to compare, same as Radix. I bought XRD at peaks of pricing, not going to make that mistake again. I will wait for market to play out, continue to soften, and see if anything takes hold beyond hype.

Technology is only part of the key, adoption and actual usage is the rest. You of course did mention that so I'm just repeating it because it's that important to note.

EDIT: Quickly I can see Sui hitting $100m cap or less which means 20 cent pricing or less needs to be achieved.

There are monthly unlocks from pre-sales as well as various larger unlocks looming on the horizon. There will be continuous downward pressure on Sui on the short term. The hope is something, or numerous things, being built on Sui can flip the narrative and create enough buy pressure, but it's a pipe dream currently.

Aptos, another Move based chain, lost ~65% of it's value over it's first 2 months before it's ecosystem took hold and began drawing money into it, and Sui has more projects being built, better projects being built, and builders who have built on both chains have boasted that Sui is favorable to build on, so the hope is that Sui should draw a larger share of Move developers long term.

I am not saying buy Sui right now. I continue to tell people I'm losing on all of my Sui buys so far. What I am saying is keep an eye on it, especially what's being built on Sui. The ecosystem is going to present a lot of opportunity, and the chain is capable enough to support a thriving ecosystem.

Are you aware of this site? https://suitickets.netlify.app/

I somehow ended up connecting my wallet to it. Nothing has been drained, but it could be because I staked them. Here is the transaction I made (presumably to receive an NFT, but nothing arrived in the NFT tab yet) -> https://suiexplorer.com/txblock/AFVTxXSk...rk=mainnet

Yes I am. It is a scam site.

Scammers have been airdropping NFT "tickets" into wallets trying to lead Sui users to malicious sites.

Sui doesn't work like EVM chains, so you don't need to revoke any contract from being able to access your coins, but you do need to ensure you have disconnected any active connection from that dApp.

In the official Sui wallet, hit 'Apps' at the bottom, switch to the 'Active Connections' tab, and then locate the malicious connection and disconnect.

Done! Thanks a lot! Hopefully this will prevent any harm. Do you keep DCA'ing?

Yes, but minimally while we go through this shit show.

I've had spare ETH and USDC sitting on the Sui blockchain so as prices take large hits I'll swap some to SUI.
Gotta say after making a few flips on it its smooth. The UX is a bit off but people just haven't built out yet. With Solana ecosystem dying hard right now I could see a sui kickup eventually if the volume doesn't go to ordinals. (Talking about nft eco) - Also nice to see founders of a chain who acknowledge that that ecosysteme exists within theirs. I think sui still has potential

It's a very good price to buy-in now at $0.70-0.80 price range.

No it's not. It's a good price to sell.

It's a good price to minute trade, the best prices are the ones you'll see next april. New data is available on site to show why.

Until april, all you're gonna see is sideways movements, probably, with new lower lows. Unless you stake, you might not get returns in this market. Even if you stake, the odds are still stacked against you.

If you absolutely must buy due to yolo and fomo, DCA is the way but it is risky as hell given the available data. Even DCA is hard to sell as an investment choice because it keeps dropping in mcap relative to other coins..

If you trade by the minute, all sui prices are relatively good except the higher number (e.g. buy low sell high). Especially in a sideways-moving market with new lower lows, just be aware that this kind of behaviour devalues the coin further if done en masse. Whoever said you can't make a profit in a bear market is an idiot. Buy low sell high, rinse and repeat.. Minute trading is more profitable now than DCA-ing is in a bear, except you need the guts and mental preparations to be able to do it and even then most traders lose against the big players. Hard sell either way. Risk = 10/10. Normies should stick with btc.

It took Sui just over 1 month to explode from 1,000,000 active accounts (Jul 15) to 3,000,000 active accounts (Aug 15) to over 5,000,000 active accounts (Aug 30). We should cross 6,000,000 this week as well.

Sui recently also hit the record for most transactions by a blockchain in a single day (65.8 million). As a disclaimer, these transactions were not meaningful, they stemmed from a game, but it did demonstrate that with elevated throughput and network congestion, Sui fees stayed consistent and minimal. Sui also crossed the 1b transactions threshold in mid August.

Sui is currently one of the fastest growing non-evm based chains measured by TVL across its DeFi protocols. https://i.imgur.com/8BSj2QF.png (Pic a few days old)

Earlier this week Sui launched zkLogin, which paves the way for on-boarding more web2 users into the web3 space, without the requirement of handling your own keys, thus lowering the entry barrier for less tech-savvy users.

In their latest blog post, decentralized trading without wallets, BlueFin announce their v2 will be launching on Sui and will be built on top of zkLogin.
