Is the HF news still coming out with Sky's hiatus?

As of right now, nobody is running the HF News. In Scribe running the news, it was Hydra Sky Cap and me (although I never really helped other than donating).

Perhaps someone will want to pick the project up. I highly recommend getting with Hydra and Cap.

I don’t think Hydra will get involved based on our last chat… but I think the HF News is a good project. A very difficult project, but it would be good for a group… if only there was a group that dedicated itself to helpful posts and community outreach. Any ideas Trust?

In all seriousness, I’d be willing to take this on in some capacity with my group. I was a writ3r for many years and always enjoyed it. That being said, Sky and I weren’t on the best of terms before his hiatus (Even tho I still love ya) and I don’t want to just take over another group of peoples’ project that they were passionate about.

So… I’m open to the idea of contributing and keeping some semblance of an official news source on the site, but I’d like to hash it out with Sky Hydra Pentatonix Cap etc before I just go ahead and take things over.

In all seriousness, I’d be willing to take this on in some capacity with my group. I was a writ3r for many years and always enjoyed it. Sky is gone, Hydra doesn't care if I had to guess, and Cap doesn't really have time for it I would guess. I was going to help, but the response was always bleak. So I just donated the $50/monthly for the giveaway.

Whoever would like to continue HF News can do so by reaching out to me. I won't continue it as it's not something Omni considers of value given that the group was deleted without notifying me or telling me why beforehand. Decade+ of W3 was wiped.

It's a lot of work and may seem easy for the first or two editions and then you'll question why you're even bothering when it only gets a few posts, no official support and 90% of the forum doesn't even know it exists. I'll provide you with the tools and graphics we've developed over the years. You also likely won't find members that will help out for a consistent period. Majority will help with an edition or two and then go MIA.

Just laying out the truth/facts, so if you're still interested, hit me up. My recommendation? Continue this thread and this will be everyone's HF News. I monitor this thread while lurking around and I'm sure staff do as well so it's "controlled" and spam-less for the most part. It's on the backburner but I've been working on something that would assist with reporting notable news in terms of user news (posts, pop, etc.). If I ever do finish it, I'll share it. It would notify the user if it finds notable news while they browse HF and can quickly post it here through automation.

Heartbreaking facts. I remember when Sir was out and they needed a new leader. I didn’t want that job and told you to take it, shit was a lot of dedication lol. I’m surprised Omni would close it down without at least messaging you though to at least say thanks for trying but the efforts not worth it.

Auto reporting the news would be insane. For post counts, rep counts, and awards I think you could do it pretty easily. Maybe even popular threads. I’m not sure how you’d auto pickup on drama besides things like Staff changes or Closed account reporting and a little manual investigative reporting would do the trick I bet. Any group owner changes, that type of thing too.
