Hello everyone, I had a question. I wanted to ask like there would be workers in USA/Canada such as security guards, in Walmart, and in other stores or local grocery stores.
Are these guys and other blue collar workers able to afford a living on their own like paying for rent, groceries and utilities? I mean someone with a small job can afford a living there because I was talking to someone from Canada and they said that they can't.

I would think the US/Canada would be difficult to live in with just a small job unless your partner were also working.

So you can't live alone with a small job?

Depends on the area you're living, of course. Inner-city gonna be higher rent, so it helps to have roommates. IDK much about Canada though.

Walmart and grocery stores do not have security guards. Walmart has loss prevention associates, but they do more of monitoring and securing product. It's similar.

Depends, if they have a house from their father/family to live in, daily hustle can also make them by every month. Job are just better. Some stay in the streets as well as far as I have seen and some in the store itself. They just manage to make by left over food and keep a small savings, and keep grinding tickets in hope of someday luck might have its way into their life. That is all of it. If he is a familyman with just a job scale at that low, it be hard but not impossible, government school, day to day basic food / brought in left overs, while being sick just passing on by basic meds, and life goes on with the lottery tickets. That is all to living!
Um loss prevention yea US have that

No, in the U.S.A a security guard doesn't make much. Even in Walmart. I think companies like Walmart require you to have a degree in criminal justice to get their security job. They normally hire ex FBI agents and policemen.
However, if you apply to small grocery stores they don't pay much and might not require a college degree. You cannot afford rent. You could before 2017. I think it stared going down hill in 2018 and then the pandemic made it even more worse.
There's a lot of stores closing. Big Lots, Party City and many more closing because they cannot make enough sales. Even labor jobs here you can't get paid or a living meaning you might be able to pay for rent but you would either have to skip on food or skip on utilities like power, heat, water etc. You won't be able to afford everything because the prices went up over time and paychecks stayed the same.

The answer is no... before 2018 the answer would be yes if you looked in the suburbs like out of major cities. It also depends on which state.
California and New York are pretty much the most expensive areas to live and work.
They must be an international student living in a Canada that got hired as a security guard. Go check what’s happening to security guards in Canada, they are giving anyone the opportunity to do it.
Not much income. Canada is expensive.
Definitely depends on the area you’re living.
We have em parked at almost every mcdonalds in london lol
