It's that snowflake mindset where kids think it's a bad thing to discuss heavy topics; and even some older lefties don't want to have any real discussions. Smh.. Wouldn't be surprised lol I don't know about whether he is "scripted", but he is certainly either bought or heavily influenced by others, more than he has original thoughts. Maybe I'm wrong, but I know there are multiple states that will pick up their investigations & prosecute once he's out of office. It's all just on pause for now, but there are clear paths for charging him with very real, valid criminal charges. That said, he might not make it 4 years, or at least 4 + a year or two after for trials. That's a long time for someone in such poor health and at such an old age. I hope he can keep his cognitive abilities. I know many people disagree, but the amount of times he has mixed up facts, mixed up names, etc... it's concerning, and has been that way for a few years now. I have to give him some grace because this is just what happens when people get old. I hope one day there is both a minimum and a maximum age for the presidency - and if not for age, then for an unbiased, bipartisan review of cognitive capability before they can even run in a primary. That would prevent people like Joe Biden or Donald Trump from running, and we could actually have some solid picks. I stand by my stance: I have plenty of republican values, I just don't like DT. You often times on this forum use AI as some kind of authority, calling it biased when it doesn't agree with you seems odd. AI Quote: 1. Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (2017) Impact on Income Inequality: The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, passed in 2017, significantly lowered corporate tax rates and reduced individual taxes, with the most substantial benefits going to wealthier Americans. Critics argue that these tax cuts disproportionately benefited the wealthiest individuals and corporations while offering only modest relief to middle- and lower-income Americans. Furthermore, the cuts were projected to increase the national deficit, which could lead to cuts in essential social programs. 2. Family Separation Policy (2018) Impact on Immigrant Families: Trump's "zero tolerance" immigration policy led to the separation of thousands of children from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border. Many children were held in detention centers, and families were often not reunited for months, causing trauma and psychological harm. This policy sparked widespread criticism, even within his own party, for its inhumane nature. 3. Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement (2017) Impact on the Environment and Future Generations: Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, a global effort to combat climate change, was widely criticized by environmentalists and many world leaders. Critics argue that this decision endangered the future of the planet by reducing the U.S.'s commitment to addressing climate change and undermining global cooperation on environmental protection. It also weakened U.S. leadership on global environmental issues. 4. Deregulation and Environmental Rollbacks Impact on Public Health and the Environment: Trump's administration rolled back numerous environmental regulations, including the Clean Power Plan (which aimed to limit carbon emissions from power plants) and fuel-efficiency standards for cars. Critics argue that these rollbacks put the health of American citizens at risk by increasing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change and air quality problems. 5. Affordable Care Act (ACA) Repeal Attempts Impact on Health Care Access: Trump repeatedly attempted to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), which had expanded health care coverage to millions of Americans. Although full repeal efforts failed, actions such as reducing funding for ACA enrollment, eliminating the individual mandate penalty, and allowing states to implement work requirements for Medicaid led to higher premiums and reduced access to affordable health care for many individuals, especially low-income people. 6. Trade Wars and Tariffs Impact on American Consumers and Workers: Trump's trade wars, particularly with China, led to the imposition of tariffs on various goods. While the tariffs were intended to protect U.S. industries, they often led to higher costs for American consumers and businesses, which were forced to pay more for imported goods. Farmers, in particular, were hit hard, as Chinese tariffs on agricultural products led to a loss of market access for American crops. 7. Cuts to Social Safety Net Programs Impact on Low-Income Americans: Trump's administration proposed significant cuts to programs like Medicaid, food assistance (SNAP), and housing subsidies, which many argued would harm low-income families. Additionally, his administration attempted to implement work requirements for food stamps, making it more difficult for people in poverty to access basic resources. 8. Response to COVID-19 Impact on Public Health and the Economy: Trump's response to the COVID-19 pandemic was heavily criticized for being slow, inconsistent, and often downplaying the severity of the virus. His administration initially minimized the impact of the virus, undermined public health experts, and failed to implement a coordinated national strategy for testing, contact tracing, and protective measures. This contributed to the spread of the virus and a slower economic recovery. Economic Impact: Trump's failure to manage the pandemic also contributed to widespread economic hardship, with millions of Americans losing their jobs, facing health risks, and enduring economic instability. While some economic relief packages were passed, many argued that they were insufficient and poorly targeted, leaving many struggling to recover. 9. Voter Suppression and Election Integrity Policies Impact on Democracy: Trump's repeated claims of widespread voter fraud, particularly after losing the 2020 election, fueled efforts to undermine the legitimacy of elections. His rhetoric, combined with efforts to restrict voting rights through state-level voter ID laws and purging of voter rolls, was seen as an attempt to suppress the votes of minority and low-income communities, disproportionately affecting African Americans and Latinos. 10. Policies on Public Assistance and Welfare Impact on Vulnerable Populations: Trump sought to impose more stringent work requirements for food stamps, impose cuts to public housing, and limit the availability of other public assistance programs. Critics argued that these policies would disproportionately hurt children, elderly people, and disabled individuals who rely on these programs to meet basic needs. 11. Repeal of Net Neutrality (2017) Impact on Internet Access and Equity: Trump's Federal Communications Commission (FCC), led by Chairman Ajit Pai, repealed net neutrality protections, which prevented internet service providers from blocking or throttling access to legal content or charging higher prices for fast lanes. Critics argued that this could lead to reduced access to information, higher costs, and a less open internet, especially hurting consumers who rely on affordable internet access. 12. Housing and Homelessness Impact on Affordable Housing: Trump's administration cut funding for affordable housing programs and reversed several key regulations designed to combat housing discrimination and promote housing equity. This led to an increased burden on low-income individuals and families, contributing to growing homelessness in many parts of the U.S.
