Statement on the US, suspend access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5

Seriously? 🤯
I've used it, and in my opinion it was easily the best AI model available. It's disappointing to see it gone😵

Quote:The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Anthropic models will not be affected.

Quote:We are complying with the government’s legal directive and are removing access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all users. However, we disagree that the finding of a narrow potential jailbreak should be cause for recalling a commercial model deployed to hundreds of millions of people. If this standard was applied across the industry, we believe it would essentially halt all new model deployments for all frontier model providers.

Trump's influence?
That's actually very disappointing.

They are now going to release a much more restricted version of Fable 5 just to keep the pentagon happy.

It was so good, I burned like 2.5k of their compute cost before it got banned.

Who woulda thought. I was drunk when the model stopped working last night. I even had upgraded to Claude 200 just to use fable
Clearly this is retaliation by the government for when Anthropic refusing to provide the military and intelligence agencies with an "unlocked" or unrestricted version of its AI models a while back. They rejected Pentagon demands to remove safeguards against autonomous weapons and domestic surveillance, so in typical US gov fashion they threw a temper tantrum and were just drooling over a chance to get back at them.

Exactly. It was just reported that the Trump admin are moving to dismiss the private lawsuit against X and Grok datacenters because Grok is enabling "critical US military operations". I'm sure they're going to make a shitload of money whenever OpenAI IPO, so they are going to suppress Anthropic models as much as they can until then.
