Tite Kubo's Bleach Manga to Enter Final Arc
Approaching end of decade-long manga revealed in next Weekly Shonen Jump issue
This year's 10th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that Tite Kubo's Bleach manga is entering its final story arc. Kubo has been drawing the manga in the magazine since 2001, and Shueisha published the 53rd compiled book volume of the manga in December.
Thanks to its "Shonen Jump Digital Warp" program, Viz Media just released the 53rd volume in electronic book form in North America last month. The Digital Warp program prepared the way for this week's launch of Viz's English-language digital anthology Shonen Jump Alpha, which is running chapters of Bleach and five other titles two weeks after their print debut in Japan's Weekly Shonen Jump. Viz will release the print version of the 38th volume next week.
Anime Voice Actors Hold Quake Charity Event on March 11

Exactly one year after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake disaster, the Seiendan support group will host a charity event with anime voice actors to benefit recovery efforts. The "Don't Forget 3.11 Seiendan Egao o Todoketai" event will take place in Tokyo's Harajuku Astro Hall at 2:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m. on March 11.
Led by Kazuhiko Inoue (Naruto, Case Closed), participating voice actors will include Mika Kanai (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, When They Cry - Higurashi), Anri Katsu (Guilty Crown, Danbōru Senki), Nobutoshi Canna (Fate/stay night, Berserk), and others. Tickets are now available online for 3,000 yen (about US$40).
Various voice actors, creators, and Japanese celebrities have participated in charity events since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Seiendan posted an 8-minute support video with messages and a song from participating voice actors last April.
Yuu Aoi Photographed as Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin's Megumi

The Cinema Today and Eiga.com websites posted a photograph on Wednesday of actress Yuu Aoi as the popular character Megumi Takani in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin film.
Aoi plays against type in the role of Megumi — an enigmatic, assertive female doctor who is not above getting her hands dirty to survive. Aoi played younger characters in earlier films such as Hana and Alice and Honey and Clover. Although Megumi is in her 20s in the original manga and film, she is also the oldest of all the female characters in the film's main cast.
Aoi explained some of the choices made in the look of her character. For example, instead of trimming her eyebrows to match the manga version of Megumi, she only partially trimmed her eyebrows. "I make some effort to try to look like the character of the original," Aoi said, "since doing so would honor and respect the original work, but I don't think that I have to be absolute about it."
Keishi Ōtomo is directing this samurai film with actor Takeru Satoh (Kamen Rider Den-O, Rookies, Beck, Ryōmaden) playing the title character Kenshin Himura and actress Emi Takei playing the heroine Kaoru Kamiya. Munetaka Aoki (The Last Message Umizaru, live-action The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) plays Sanosuke Sagara, and Taketo Tanaka plays Yahiko Myōjin. Yosuke Eguchi (Shonan Bakusozoku, Tokyo Love Story) as Hajime Saitō, musician/actor Kouji Kikkawa (Let's Dance With Papa) as Jin'e Udō, and Teruyuki Kagawa (From Up On Poppy Hill, 20th Century Boys) as Kanryū Takeda round out the cast.
The film will open in Japan on August 25, 2012. Earlier photographs from the film were posted online in December and January.
1/1 Fist of the North Star Figure Sold for 3 Million Yen
The life-size Fist of the North Star figure — that happens to be inlaid with 500,000 Swarovski crystals — received a final bid of 3 million yen (about US$39,000) in a December auction on the Yahoo! Japan website. The crystals alone on this statue of manga lead character Kenshirō are worth 10 million yen (US$130,000).
The winner of the auction is a self-employed man in his 40s from Fujieda City in Shizuoka Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo. According to the winner, his entire family are all Fist of the North Star fans; "I'll make [the statue] a family heirloom," he said. He did receive his wife's consent before bidding on the auction.
The 185-centimeter-tall (73-inch-tall) figure now stands in the winner's living room. He put it in a custom-made acrylic case to protect it from dust and earthquakes.
Tokuma Shoten's Coamix imprint and its Monthly Comic Zenon magazine sponsored the creation of the figure to promote their online store. The well-known figure maker Kaiyodo produced the figure under the supervision of Fist of the North Star's own creator, Tetsuo Hara. It took 10 designers three months to decorate the statue with 52 kinds of crystals.
10% of the final 3-million-yen bid was donated to the Japanese Red Cross for efforts in the areas affected by the March 11 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.
Final Fantasy X HD remake officially announced for Ps3 and PSVita
At the Tokyo game show, Square Enix announced the remake of the popular game for the ps3 and the upcoming PSVita console. More information has not yet been given other than the fact that it IS actually being done. For it is a HD remake, the game will probably not feature any new functions. And while some will be extremely pissed that this wasn’t a Final Fantasy VII Remake being announced, it really makes much more sense to remake FFX, as the transition from PS2 visuals to current-generation is much easier than it would be for a PS1 game, which would have to be entirely remade from nothing than air.
Save Miku!
So some serious things have been happening on Youtube as of late; especially for you vocaloid fans. Some underhanded third party has been filing fraudulent copyright claims against her songs and music on all of her videos and getting them removed on youtube. Although some of her older songs have been saved; her recent work with Livetune KZ has been deleted and I have yet to see another full copy.
These videos are being removed by companies that have never been heard of before. Media Interactive Inc, is the company in question, and is supposedly responsible for getting Lady Gaga's youtube account deleted. The company has only been filing reports against her videos with English titles, so this gives suspicion they are either using this as a way to get them removed, or they don't speak Japanese. Either way, internet Japan has moved against them and have already organized themselves:
Japan Wrote:Someone who doesn’t like Hatsune Miku getting popular in the world is deleting her high ranked videos with English titles on it by making fake reports that the videos are infringing a copyright.
We don’t know who is doing this.
The series of these acts may be caused by organized group(s).
It is under investigation by Miku fan volunteers.
If your video is deleted by a fake report, please submit a counter-notification here: http://p.tl/hZW6
To all Vocaloid fans, Let’s get her back. Don’t give up.
The problem with these take downs is that it could easily lead to a court hearing and this can be very costly, especially to a 15 year old who has just tried sharing the music. So most hide. For those who do submit a counter argument, it can take up to 2 weeks, so it may be a while before we hear out favourite vocalolid songs again.
Hikikomori stabs Brothers before taking his own life
Although this isn't fully anime related, we all know about hikikomori's and they have been strongly suggested to be influenced by anime; for those who do not know, allow me to explain!
Hikikomori is a term used against people who just live a life without working, or in education, and just play games and watch anime constantly. A few animes have even used this theme and have become quite popular around AA. They are often referred to as "NEETS" (Not In Education, Employment or Training) as well and are basically people who spend their free time hiding from the world, and living online.
The incident occurred when the Elder brother (45) of the hikikomori (45) told him to get a job, which then he replied to by swinging a knife around and stabbing him repetitively, the Younger Brother (43) then tried intervening but was injured too. The mother then called the police who arrived on the scene and helped all the Brothers to hospital but the hikikomori was already reported dead by Hanging. Only the elder brother worked, but because of the rent they received off of the other properties, the parents could both look after the family without any trouble.
So my message to AA; don't allow it to go this far; with yourself and others. Just because they had some fun in "Welcome to the NHK," didn't mean this was the full reality. Be safe!
