New Project?
Omniscient posted a thread with 3 images which resemble some type of characters. Roger Waters then eventually found the hidden page (https://hackforums.net/battle.php) that Omniscient teased at and after 12 pages of discussions, Omniscient told us there will be another thread for the next phase of the project. Who's excited for this next project? From my interpretation, I'm thinking a Pokemon Go style battle with 3 factions. Excited and eager to see what comes next! >>Source

New Policy Addition - Username Visible Characters
Omniscient has added a new rule for usernames that a member must have at least four visible characters in their username or else they risk penalties. If you do not meet the requirements of four visible characters, change your username right away before actions are taken against your account. >>Source

Pandas Make it off Endangered List
The work of conservationists has finally paid off: pandas are off the endangered-species list. Due to a rebound of the panda population in China, the official status of the animal has changed from “endangered” to “vulnerable.” Estimates now put the population of pandas at 1,864 adults and 196 cubs. The Chinese government’s efforts to save the panda have shown they are willing to protect their national animal. >>Source

Largest Strike in Human History Takes Place in India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic policies caused tens of millions of public-sector workers to go on strike on September 2. The Indian prime minister has pushed for greater privatization because of the money it could raise, but those in state-run offices have come out against it. Although not verified, union officials claimed 180 million government workers were on strike. The particular worry from those striking is that privatization will jeopardize their employment. The unions would also like a hike in the minimum wage. Currently, the minimum wage of India is 6,396 rupees per month ($96). >>Source

UK Government Aims to ban Plastic Microbeads
The tiny beads found in many cosmetic items will soon be banned in the UK. Multiple cosmetic companies have promised to voluntarily phase out the beads by 2020, but the UK government is aiming for a ban in 2017 instead. The reasoning behind the ban is that the beads are thought to damage the environment through environmental build-up and possible entrance into the food chain. The microbeads are indeed plastic, and a single shower can cause up to 100,000 plastic particles to enter the ocean. This ban follows the US’ microbead ban which was announced in late December of 2015. >>Source

ITT Technical Institute is Completely Shutting Down
Private, for-profit college ITT Tech will be finally shutting its doors after 50 years of operation, after a step in by the U.S. Federal Government. This comes shortly after the U.S. Department of Education cracked down and stripped it of its multi-billion dollar Federal aid, resulting in the school stopping enrollment entirely. According to current students and faculty, ITT Tech did not really explain to them what was happening, with one staff member even claiming that “No one knows what’s going on". Students of the school must now either transfer their credits to a new school or attempt to get their money back, as all ITT Tech campuses will no longer be in service. Those who took loans from the school may also be entitled to loan forgiveness for the pricey schools' tuition.

Apple Unveils iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
On the 7th of the month, Apple has appropriately decided to unveil their newest phones in the iPhone lineup: the iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus. With this unveiling comes both slight tweaks, and very drastic changes to the coveted smartphone's arsenal. Those who watch plenty of media on their iPhones will now be able to enjoy their content with full stereo sound, with one speaker being located at the bottom of the phone, and the other where the ear piece is located at the top-front of the phone. Speaking of the bottom of the iPhone, Apple has revealed that both new iPhones will no longer have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, meaning your favorite pair of headphones will no longer work out of the box. Those who want to keep using their traditional headphones must purchase an adapter sold by Apple for an additional $9, although the phones will come with earbuds that plug directly into the charging port. Another big change to the phones was the changing of the iconic home button, which is now force sensitive like the trackpad Apple features in their newest MacBook Air. The change Apple fans may really love to hear is the overhaul of their camera system. This year, the iPhone 7 Plus will feature a new dual camera system similar to the one seen in LG's V10 smartphone. The iPhone 7 Plus' dual cameras adds the capability to zoom in at twice the normal capacity, with no loss to picture quality. Along with this, the cameras swap automatically, meaning the phone will choose the right one for the job. The most affordable 32GB model of the iPhone 7 will retail at about $650, while the 32GB iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769, going all the way up to $969 for the 256GB model. The phones are set to release on September 16th.

Chinese Company Invents USB Drive that Destroys Your Devices
What was once just an idea, may now endanger the devices, citizens, companies, and practically any unprotected device with access to a USB port. Hong-Kong based company USBKILL, has released their lastest thumb drive, capable of charging electricity inside the device, and sending it all at once to the device it is plugged into, frying it instantly. This device won't just affect computers, but really any device left unprotected with a USB port. This includes, televisions, printers, game consoles, copy machines, and plenty of larger electronics. According to the company, tech makers that build protection into their devices cannot be affected by the device, with Apple being a notable company that protects against electrical attacks. The special USB drive dubbed USB Kill retails for $56, and can also come with their so-called Test Shield, which allows the device to be tested without frying your own devices.

PS4 Pro Specs and Price Revealed
As expected, Sony revealed the PS4 Pro at their conferences this past week and confirmed pricing, specs, and some other details. It will launch on November 10, 2016 and cost $399. During the PlayStation Meeting event, Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, discussed Sony's decision to pursue 4K and HDR, which are two of the major new features the PS4 Pro enables. Cerny went on to show off a number of games running on PS4 Pro and displayed on a 4K display. Sony Bend's Days Gone was used to show how HDR can deliver "a level of photorealism that you've never experienced in a game." However, Cerny reassured the audience that the PS4 Pro isn't just for people with a 4K or HDR capable display. Developers can make use of the extra power to improve visual fidelity on standard 1080p TVs. The PS4 Pro will also come with a 1TB hard drive, doubled GPU power, and technology adapted from AMD Polaris graphical architecture. The full specs for the PS4 Pro can be viewed here.

Mario Coming to iPhone and iPad in Super Mario Run
Apple has recently announced that Nintendo will be launching a Mario game on iOS called Super Mario Run! The newly announced game will be an autorunner in which Mario sprints from the left to the right while players tap the screen to make him jump over obstacles and collect coins and power-ups! Initially, there won't be many power-ups, but as the game progresses, power-ups will become available and change how the mechanics work. However, the goal remains the same. Get to the flagpole as quickly as possible. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto appeared on stage during the Apple event to talk about the game and its three different modes of play. "Super Mario Run offers three different game modes. The first mode features challenging courses for you to complete. In the second mode, you challenge the play data of other people's completed courses. You compete to see who can finish the course with the most style! In the third mode, you can create your own Mushroom Kingdom using coins collected by playing the first two game modes." The game will be available in December 2016.

New Doom Trailer Teases Deathmatch and More
Bethesda has announced the contents of the upcoming free update for Doom! It will include Deathmatch, Private Matches, and Arcade Mode. They also released a short teaser which, along with gameplay, showcases information and a stream where further additions will be discussed. The stream is being held on September 13 at 11AM PT and will be hosted on the Xbox Twitch page. Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin will be in charge of running the stream to talk about the game. Before this news, Bethesda provided a few details about the new modes mentioned previously. "Deathmatch brings free-for-all mayhem to DOOM’s fast-paced multiplayer, and arrives as part of Free Update 3 this month. Private Matches are also coming in that update, allowing you and your friends to create private multiplayer matches where you determine the maps and modes," it explains on its website. The trailer with more information can be viewed here.
