How do you think the marketplace should be improved? || Bring Back "Reviewers" - SIM-2501407 - Dec 28, 2016 I created this thread after thinking about this: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5506590&pid=53601664#pid53601664 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 1 of 2 - How do you think the marketplace should be improved? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recently, since returning to Hackforums, I have noticed that many people have been complaining that the eBooks they purchase do not work. Listen, the problem about selling SHIT to customers is that it hurts the entire marketplace. After someone spends money an eBook and see that it does not work, they will never buy another one and may not bother buying any products whatsoever. Think about if close to everyone, the majority, made money off of the eBooks being sold. The customers would purchase more and the marketplace on this forum would have a better reputation. This new, better reputation would help spread how many people consider buying (this could also boost membership on the forums too). Perhaps there should be an enforcement of some sorts. I honestly like the idea of a marketplace violation for selling an eBook or product that clearly does not work, for it is scamming without boldly stating it. Despite this idea, I am not sure how it would be proven that an eBook clearly does not work, and there is also the issue of enforcement. I personally do not think staff have time to read these reports and enforce any rule when it comes to this. There are some cases where the eBooks do work, but eventually becomes saturated or stops working for another reason, so it is hard to say if someone knows that they are 'scamming'. Quite frankly, and it sad to state, but I do not see the marketplace improving significantly. Those who pay money for an eBook are 'gambling' in a sense. Do you have any solutions/suggestions? What do you think about the marketplace and what can be done? Put some actual thought into this. Please do not state something half-assed or idiotic (I.E "Market is shit //Discussion"). I am certain there are threads like this from the past, but this is something I believe in strongly; the marketplace does need a fix, and brainstorming will help come up with a solution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 2 of 2 - Bringing Back "Reviewers" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Dec 28, 2016 11:50 AM)Prince™ Wrote: Only if Reviewers come back as an official group again and start reviewing every single e-Book for it's content, originality, potential and reveal about it to the customers. This will be created by me within 5 years if something does not get done. You heard it here first. (Need to get Omni's approval to own a usergroup first) In case you do not know what Reviewers was, please take the time to read this page: http://hackforumswiki.net/index.php/Reviewers Quote:The group was closed after changes were made in the Marketplace which made the group's purpose to be redundant.Quote from: http://hackforumswiki.net/index.php/Groups https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=255717& This is what I would want, but the group would NOT be officially a part of the HF team. We would be a small group of HQ users that give honest reviews, that's all. The group would not be in it for profit; maybe I should make a rule within the group that it is not permitted to have certain sale threads. Of course, this would include my own sale threads. Other posts of mine in this thread in regards of Reviewers (Read them if you want to know everything): https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5507022&pid=53611118#pid53611118 https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5507022&pid=53611662#pid53611662 https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5507022&pid=53611842#pid53611842 https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5507022&pid=53613653#pid53613653 Interesting idea... I will begin collecting money and think about this more in-depth while doing so. http://prntscr.com/dp2ci0 (Dec 30, 2016 12:07 AM)ValorHF Wrote: I briefly spoke to Confound, a member of the Red Lions, tonight. Haven't ever heard of the shopping deals moderator (though I'd imagine that he's a nice guy), but apparently he moderates that section. There are a few other cases and the entire forum would benefit from a few promotions and removal of certain mentors. * - SIM-2501407 - Dec 28, 2016 (Dec 28, 2016 11:08 AM)Minimalist Wrote: I think that there should be better marketplace moderators and staff.I thought about that too, and thought it was an idea that may be worth doing for HF. Omni could promote section moderators to focus on the marketplace, so it would not be time taken away from him, for the most part. However, I am still wondering how the moderator would be able to determine if a product, eBook, etc. is total bogus. The only way for them to know would be for them to try it themselves (so I think), but that may not be possible. For some of the methods it would take a decent amount of time, and there would probably be more threads on the topic than what they are. * - Tides - Dec 28, 2016 I think ebooks should have a review system, if you receive a vouch copy or you purchase the ebook you are allowed to rate the ebook on a scale of 1-5 stars. The average rating appears on the thread, and reviewers can even leave a small comment which is stickied at the top of the thread. * - Vittorio - Dec 28, 2016 Getting rid of any sales of eBooks. * - 2000 - Dec 28, 2016 I think HF should hire special staff members that will check each product. Before they post the thread the staffs need to approve it. * - Tides - Dec 28, 2016 (Dec 28, 2016 11:19 AM)2000 Wrote: I think HF should hire special staff members that will check each product. Omni has already made it clear that the golden rule of the marketplace is to not do business on HF. At that point, anything done is at your own discretion and you just have to be smart enough not to get scammed. * - SIM-2501407 - Dec 28, 2016 (Dec 28, 2016 11:18 AM)Jauz Wrote: I think ebooks should have a review system, if you receive a vouch copy or you purchase the ebook you are allowed to rate the ebook on a scale of 1-5 stars. Even if a system was implemented by Omni that detects if a user has bought a product of a thread, there are issues, one being of abuse. You can get a friend to buy a copy and leave a fake review, then you refund their money (plus, throw a bit more money for them leaving a review). However, there is a better solution than allowing those to get scammed than turning a blind eye. * - Tides - Dec 28, 2016 (Dec 28, 2016 11:38 AM)ValorHF Wrote: This idea is great, but would be impossible.
