Heres my first attempt, almost all of the colors and such are interchangeable so there are quite a few combinations. I have only included a few variants.

Things that can be changed - Metal or Glowing border (Color can be changed to anything), Green lighting (Intense or Softer), Background Texturing (Textured, No Texture, or Transparent), Text with or without gradient/texture.

These are okay, but in all honesty it just looks generic. They look like downloaded templates that you changed to represent HF, nothing else represents HackForums or the purpose of the image.

I suppose the idea is not our originally. Seems like there has been graphics battles before we launched it. Can't find much information on it.

Wasn't it more of a community-fueled event or something of the sort? Obviously being much less formal back then.
