from 18-25 the US will send you a letter forcing you to sign up for Selective Services if you get picked. It's like the draft before the draft (I had to sign up at 18)
If you haven't gotten the letter by 25 you don't really have to worry as the rest of us who did get the letter are going before anyone that didn't.
