Hmm, I've seen several prisoners on the site lately all asking about hacking/cracking their prison tablets. Maybe we ought to have a section for this so future prisoners attracted to HF maybe can find the information they seek a bit faster?

Here's the thing, there's nobody legitimate on here that has a guide for cracking one. It's also been a breeding ground for scammers. We have a lot of repeat scammers who come here just to prey on those prisoners seeking this service. Usually the prisoner will share his off-site communication. They ask the prisoner for crypto upfront. Then delete the conversation and block.

I've hoped that someone would write a legitimate guide on the practice and share it for free, but nobody's done it yet. The last legit guy was Joe I think a couple years ago.

ive searched around the internet about information on this and there doesnt seem like theres much detail about the devices themselves. ive also thought about potential solutions for it but no one is giving enough about the device for me to understand what the surface of attack is like android and kernel versions and whether or not you can execute arbitrary code with adb or installing third party apks. i think i did see one person list the kernel version but i dont remember and theres more than one device. not sure if there are updates or how they do patching but it seems it would be pretty easy to root them given how outdated the os is. having physical access to the device would be the best in getting all the necessary info and testing

Personally I have an ethical concern on this one. How could we vet them to be sure we aren't giving some pedo a jailbroken tablet?

I think that we absolutely should have a section at the very least for making inmates time better. I have a family member that did 5 years fed time and the commissary issued sandisk clip players that are locked down to on BOP approved music can be bypassed with an android phone and OTG cable. I feel strongly that a section for prisoners is mandatory and if this forum doesn't agree then whoever is in charge is a piece of shit in my opinion.

It's not only about jpay tablets, there's so many other devices and opportunities to make their time better because this country wants to treat inmates like sheltered little boys or something and it only frustrates the inmates more. Some prisons even know there are cellphones but turn a blind eye because it keeps the inmates less violent

This forum is all about "hacking" and jailbreaking electronics to meet the users needs. Inmates also have lots of time to learn and it will be a great way for inmates and people on the outside to stay connected and it will give a sense of community for both parties.

I'm sure there are many people on the outside who would also contribute because a lot of people find it fascinating how life is on the inside, how inmates cope, and how they can make their lives better and make them feel part of the outside world

I highly agree with OP and this is probably the best idea I have seen on this forum, and quite frankly if this forum doesn't add a section, I'll just go ahead and delete my account. I don't get many customers on this forum either because everyone expects to pay $2 for shitty IPTV lol

Make the section, jpay tablets aren't the only thing in prisons. How about the sandisk clip players locked to federally approved BOP music which can be bypassed with android phone and OTG cable?
