Testing Web-Push notifications in the browser.

Dang, more testing.

After a ton of back and forth I finally have web-push notifications working.

Still testing and working on the little things now. But working.

AI Quote: Yes. Excluding the Telegram work, I’d estimate you’ve spent roughly 8–12 hours on the HF site notification + Web Push system so far.

That estimate comes from the work spread across several sessions since about Oct 4–6, including reviewing/reworking the notify plugin, replacing polling ideas with WebSocket wakeups, wiring MyBB events, popup/UI behavior, unread/read handling, service-worker migration, VAPID/Web Push setup, Firefox/Windows testing, Cloudflare/nginx/WebSocket checks, the push worker, and PM2 persistence/debugging.

For today alone, I’d put the push/site-notify work at around 4–6 hours of fairly continuous troubleshooting and implementation.

So I’d summarize it as:

- Earlier notify/web-push work: ~4–6 hours
- Today: ~4–6 hours
- Total: ~8–12 hours

Given how much was actually built and debugged, I think ~10 hours is a fair single-number estimate.

Everything seems to be working well on my end. Great work and glad to have this back. The difference it makes for the experience on here and especially if you're more of an active member is massive. I assume we can expect notifications for other things such as contracts at some point in the future?

Yes, for now I'm letting the existing plugin sit and make sure it's not buggy. I'm also going to work on Convo next (right now actually).

I'll do Contracts and Quick Love at least.

Understood and sounds good. Appreciate the update and best of luck with working on convo.
