Before i joined Hackforums i was more focussed on Shopify stores and online projects in general.
To get traffic i most often went for Facebook ads, sometimes Google Adwords aswell, until a friend of me told me to focus on Forums instead.
I was skeptic about this since i tryed forums before, however those were gaming/development related forums and the results were poor but i decided to look more into Forum marketing.
When i joined Hackforums i noticed that there was a need to establish a certain status around the community before i could sell anything, which made sense however is was a newb and besides upgrading to Leet i didn't know what else to do as the previous forums i've been on where pretty much gaming focussed online and after a while i gave up and decided to go back to those.
It wasn't until i failed with another project online when i decided that i genuinely had to look for other sources of traffic for my projects and products, i decided to jump back on Hackforums and a few other forums again and give it one more shot.
This turned out very well and changed my whole mind set regarding online marketing and the products i would focus on in the next year.
Hackforums and similair forums are literally the best place you can go for marketing your products or projects unless it's a very mainstream product such as a social media platform or in that trend.
I noticed by posting a single thread of my product i instantly had exposure to thousands of potentional customers and this was new to me, later i decided to focus on what forum communities are looking for, my latest example of that is a traffic bot i released and i noticed that pretty much anything i was interested in developing, having developed or releasing anyways, were always perfect for forum marketing to begin with.
I believe that i'll always stay involved with forums in some way, the exposure to potentional customers realy great and that is also what makes forums unique in my opinion, especially Hackforums which is managed so well by Omniscient and staff.
I'm posting this to reach people who were like me, spending thousands of dollars on advertisement that in the end didn't work while forums are basicly a realy great place to test the demand of a certain product, you can always scale towards mainstream later on but i'm confident that when a product fails on forums, it will fail anywhere.
I hope this will help at least one person making their next moves as an entrepreneur or marketer online.
