Same, I used veracrypt awhile back and it was pretty good but then I stopped using it because there was not enough solid reviews and data on it at the time for myself to feel like it was secure enough. But its been awhile now so maybe it's really something now...
My hat used to be somewhere along the border of being grey but over the past few years, I realized my calling is to learn and help others out in ways that I can ethically. Learn as much as you can, experience, grow, educate, and throw yourself in uncomfortable situations.
Veracrypt is updated, TrueCrypt is not.
Best security would be not to have anything on your computer at all. Use Deep Freeze, then access the internet with a remote computer only accessible by a specific IP or hostname.
Veracrypt is the only continuation of Truecrypt which is actively being developed by a group which actually has experiance with cryptography. And it has been audited, or rather Truecrypt has been audited after the devs abandoned it. Veracrypt uses it's audited codebase and maintains/improves upon it now.
Hey man Veracrypt is a good program and it was made from Truecrypt but just patched all the security flaws in it but I highly recommend it as it's free and open source so it's trustworthy and also when going online use tails if you don't already but if you need to use programs use windows or other Linux distros it's just tails is not secure but privacy is good on it all you have to do is remove the USB and everything is gone and not store on the pc and you can also have btc wallets and other things on tails. Hope this helped

Veracrypt, since a ton of flaws were found in truecrypt, and most of them were fixed in Veracrypt.
The only think I wish veracrypt had was a self destruct password. Like the LUKS nuke. Anyways, checkout the guide in my signature, it might be useful to you. Although I haven't added anything to it in quite some time. ![]() |
