any recommended IDE for C?

I'm going to be learning C and I need a decent IDE
I've tried on visual studio, but the console keep closing in less than a second

A console window closing is not a problem with the IDE. Your program does not have anything else in it to keep it open. Put in a getchar or delay to keep it open.
If you want to keep VSCode console open after execution, disable debugging. Otherwise just select the last line as the break point.

VS is excellent, but CLion is also worth mentioning. See which one you prefer, if you really need an ide.

This. I think you should start with beginner tutorials, there are lots of them.

I was asking for IDE suggestion because I didn't see C as a choice in first place on visual studio. had to create an empty C++ project and create a .c file
so I thought there were a better IDE.

thanks for responses about how I can keep it open though!

We are not mind readers and wouldn't know why you are looking for another IDE if you don't put that in the original post. Visual Studio is pretty darn good. If it works, keep using it. If it doesn't, then its time to look elsewhere.
I seen high skilled programmers using visual studio and you think it's not good ?

Put these lines at the end.
Code
printf("Hit a key to end program");
char temp;
temp = getchar();

EDIT: I see webdev77 already posted the solution.

read the thread maybe? cuz u clearly havent seen my thread ?
Visual Studio is my favorite IDE by far and I would highly suggest you keep using it, the debugging capabilities and quality of life features will just make your life so much easier. Once you go purple and black you never go back

you blame the IDE for closing the Counsel and ask for a better one right ? so you're saying it's maybe bad but you didn't bother to learn few things to keep the counsel open. Maybe try googling how to keep it open lol

That's not one percent close to what's wrote on my thread.
I have used visual studio for C++ and C#, I've never had any issue with it, but https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?ti...id58148754
You can compile C with the C++ project/compiler normally.

Notepad++ and clang++ also works.

On Windows,
Use Visual Studio Code and Install tdm-gcc on your PC.

http://tdm-gcc.tdragon.net/

I think you have the same problem like me. I don't like the way Visual Studio works and I always had problems with Include headers in VS Code. But tdm-gcc fixed it. It adds Global envoirment variables.
