Test your knowledge against "The Hacker's Quiz"

I spent the last couple days putting together this little quiz. Mostly for beginners to get a good idea of what hacking (specifically Pentesting / CySec) really involves, and what they need to start learning to succeed.

Alternatively - for the more experienced, it's a form of bragging rights.

So without further ado, I give to you... a rigorous 250 point quiz spanning from bare basic networking to advanced intrusion and exploitation (though that's probably a slightly over-hyped statement):

The Hacker's Quiz

By yours truly  🤝

In a few weeks time, I will add detailed answers and enable the "view correct answer" feature - which will change this from a simple quiz into a neat little self-practice test.

humble rubyist in a world of pythonistas

Not too bad. Most of the questions relate to practical exams such as CISSP, CEH, Sec+, etc. Many are easy/commonplace, but a few of them even had ME checking my facts - and I'm the one writing the damn thing! 🤣

Seems I need to brush up on my books once more.

Good job - at the very least, the number of points shows that you got past the bare basics (which is only 32 points total) and a few other questions 👍

yeah I don't have all the metasploit modules memorized either.

139/250. while sqli is still a threat, it's not as common these days. also I would say it's due to a lack of user input sanitation. honestly would've done better if I had tool syntax memorized...
138/250

I skipped a few of the questions I thought were too boring, such as the "Network Layers" one among other. If I put more time into it I could probably get higher, but I am lazy 😝

Regardless, really nice quiz. Tests a broad range of hacking knowledge. I liked it.

I was planning to put in several situational questions in a final "Master Hacker" section pertaining to Physical security & Social Engineering, however

A) it's 1:30am and i'm too tired / lazy to do so
B) I'll save those gems for my next quiz later down the line...

Done, a couple of questions threw me for a loop like trojan on port 6666 no idea.

185/250
This quiz seems too daunting for me. I'll try improve my hacking knowledge and abilities for now and come back to this when I become more experienced

Try it honestly it is for you if you don't want to post you don't have to but at the very least it tells you where you are and where you need to improve.

Thanks for the advice. I just decided to take the test. Honestly, not too hot, but better than I thought I would do. I guess I can take it as a sign that I oughta study up more and improve my computer knowledge

Good stuff! There is nothing wrong with not doing too hot, now you can buckle down and focus on learning more. We all have to be honest with ourselves as to what our strengths and weaknesses are and those deficiencies will remain so unless we confront and move on making those weaknesses a strength. At the end of the day it really is about being a life long learner and being responsible with what is learned.

That is the very essence of why I created this test/quiz. Many ask where to get started, so this is a way to self-gauge where you need to practice and learn.

Next month I will add detailed answers for incorrect choices, in order to turn this into a more advanced self-study test. 😎

103/250, I thought I'd do worse, at least I know I can improve. I'm excited to see the answers so I know where I can improve.
