Andromeda is great. But maybe you could go with an irc based botnet. the puplic aryan source is great if you find the good sources.

Also IRC does not hold more connections, its all about how big your server is that determines that, it has nothing with the bot. Any bot can claim to hold 50k bots but you will need a good VPS to do it. But you should go with andro HTTP.
