This thread was created when this section didn't exist and used to live in the suggestions forum but now this forum has been created and it has been moved to here. I want to close this thread as there isn't much need for it any longer but I can't as omni was the one to open it, I have messaged him about this and he should close it for me soon.
Original thread below in spoiler
Probably been denied in the past but I just want to see if it could pass.
I've been getting into photography recently and I've been thinking this forum needs a photography section for people to discuss well you know cameras lenses and just photography and maybe as a sub section share some pictures you personally took.
NoteI won't be closing this thread if it should be closed a staff member or mentor etc should do it.

I'd support it now as I am a photographer, Although I did not support it then because I obviously was not here.
I support this.

I have posted in a few threads from time to time, Minnesota Nice has posted a few good ones before.
I will actually finally have my Nikon D3100 up here in two days and will probably be posting pictures since the views here are amazing.
I support this mainly because next year I plan to get into photography as I'm starting to take a real interest in it. May even do a college course in it next year.
Thanks to Omni for posting on this think this might be the first thread of mine you've posted in so far.
Thanks to whoever reopened this thread aswell.

I WANT this section. I'm glad there's someone who is with me on this and I hope it goes through.
I agree, would be a good section for members.

Let's try and get the staff's attention with this thread once again done well so far.

Where photography threads get posted is fine, if you open up a photography section I have a feeling people with Iphones using instagram will post all over the section and essentially ruining it. Plus, not many photography-related threads get posted on a daily basis, the section would barely be active. Just to touch on another point you made.
I think yeah there aren't many photography threads/posts made each day but if there was somewhere for those posts then there would be as I wanted to post a thread a few days ago and because I couldn't find a place to post the thread I simply didn't bother.
I would support the photography forum as i have found it to be a very interesting subject.

I hardly ever see a photography thread being posted. If you made a whole new forum I would start
preparing to see shit tons of "OH LOOK MY ANDROID/IPHONE/IPWN/IWHATEVER, TAKES THE BEST
PICTURES EVAR". That or instagram out the ass. Or people using a crap digital camera they bought
from Best Buy to take pictures of random things like the Sky (which is essentially cheating when you
think about it. The sky almost always gives you a good picture).
-Viral. If the forum had strict rules of dslr style photography discussion only I think it could work and keep out all the crap of people taking pictures with their phone etc.

I like the idea, could even be open areas for newbies such as myself.
Due to a question of interest and activity there could be something do something like one of the following:
- Subsection or Pre-Fix in Graphics section.
- A Hobby section with either prefixes or a few subforums in the Hack Forums General Discussion forum.
Hobbies: Photography, Writing/Reading, Cars.
There have always been inquires about a car section here along with people wanting a more appropriate place for writing.
I just noticed that there is no section to discuss books, but that's probably due to big teenage base.
Writing and Reading I think would have decent activity if combined.
Just throwing it out there.
It would be a good way to implement some FAQ sections.

Thanks everyone for your posts.

implemented, Iceybunneh should be made mod of that section. I mean, Christ, she's an author,
has several books written and even does a few short stories for HF from time to time. Her gramma
is fcked up good and has a burning desire for the genre. -- Now I sound like I'm selling something. LOL.
No but seriously, she'd make sure all the crap is kept out.
-Viral.
You of all people know we can't suggest moderators of sections. 😝
But I do agree that Iceh has a very good track record of writings and takes subjects to a serious nature while other seem to joke with it.
I remember when I suggested a writing section she was very adamant about it and I think she'd do great in making sure it is used for it's purpose.
An active and knowledgeable moderator would be needed if such a thing was made or it could come down to Mentors which monitor several sections in the mentioned area.

I did much of the same with the writing section.
Omni seemed to be a bit in between but felt that the community couldn't use it appropriately.
I think a new section of decent interests suggested over the years would be pretty interesting and keep things fresh.
While I understand that Omni wants a certain level of activity before considering a section, I do imagine it would promote users to talk about it knowing there is an appropriate section for it.

stating that she WOULD be a good one IF a section WERE to be introduced LOL. (grey area?)

On topic though;
I still don't think there's enough threads to warrant an entire section but if you take all the general
interest that has come up over the years and throw it all into one sub section I could see that
being active, sure. With things in the section includes, writing, reading, photography, cars, etc.
Would satisfy a great many people, AND keep the section number to a minimum.
-Viral. Yeah that's my thinking exactly when I worded the thread and the title I worded it very loosely I think a section that covers multiple things could also be a great idea.
