Photography forum

I tend to post my photography here and there. Mostly in the FBN sub because I don't feel like the RMG section values / criticizes threads posted.

I tried bribing you about this once as well.
Let's try and get the staff's attention with this thread once again done well so far.

Where photography threads get posted is fine, if you open up a photography section I have a feeling people with Iphones using instagram will post all over the section and essentially ruining it. Plus, not many photography-related threads get posted on a daily basis, the section would barely be active.
Just to touch on another point you made.
I think yeah there aren't many photography threads/posts made each day but if there was somewhere for those posts then there would be as I wanted to post a thread a few days ago and because I couldn't find a place to post the thread I simply didn't bother.
I would support the photography forum as i have found it to be a very interesting subject.
I don't support a full section for it. Maybe rather just give the forum some new prefixes to use.
I hardly ever see a photography thread being posted. If you made a whole new forum I would start
preparing to see shit tons of "OH LOOK MY ANDROID/IPHONE/IPWN/IWHATEVER, TAKES THE BEST
PICTURES EVAR". That or instagram out the ass. Or people using a crap digital camera they bought
from Best Buy to take pictures of random things like the Sky (which is essentially cheating when you
think about it. The sky almost always gives you a good picture).

If the forum had strict rules of dslr style photography discussion only I think it could work and keep out all the crap of people taking pictures with their phone etc.

Sky pictures are rarely ever good. I have never taken one picture of the sky that I liked. Taking good pictures of the sky are hard, and you will need to be in a lot of luck to even be at a location where the sky is good.

That being said, I think a lot of people are not posting their pictures because the RMG section (sad to say) is infested with dishonest or absolutely retarded people. I mean you won't get ANY useful feedback from posting there. Not even on a good day. I think establishing a forum for people who are actually serious about their photography could turn out amazing, as long as people who don't just comment ''Wow good shot 10/10'' on every single picture. That is what prevents me from posting in the RMG. I don't want those comments. I'd rather get no feedback than just listen to a bunch of people saying shit they know nothing about because they just hit puberty and everything with color is something they would stick a penis into. That's how I feel.

I want RMG changed, I want a photography section because photography is so technical yet so beautiful and it's something you can really go deep into, especially if you have a good base of users who are genuinely interested in the topic. You can work yourself up into getting better and better and learning while having fun.

Maybe, but the amount of activity I don't think is enough to warrant and entire section for it, or
even sub section (since that still makes it a section). I mean, shit man, HF is friggin huge with
a shit ton of forums and sub forums and sub sub forums. Tbh, I think HF has too many and a lot of
these sections don't get much activity (anymore). Adding one more section is also one more section
to moderate from LQP/Crap.

I like the idea, could even be open areas for newbies such as myself.

Due to a question of interest and activity there could be something do something like one of the following:
  • Subsection or Pre-Fix in Graphics section.

  • A Hobby section with either prefixes or a few subforums in the Hack Forums General Discussion forum.
    Hobbies: Photography, Writing/Reading, Cars.

There have always been inquires about a car section here along with people wanting a more appropriate place for writing.
I just noticed that there is no section to discuss books, but that's probably due to big teenage base.
Writing and Reading I think would have decent activity if combined.

Just throwing it out there.
It would be a good way to implement some FAQ sections.

Very nice suggestion Wolves, I do have to implore though. IF a writing/reading section were to be
implemented, Iceybunneh should be made mod of that section. I mean, Christ, she's an author,
has several books written and even does a few short stories for HF from time to time. Her grammar
is fcked up good and has a burning desire for the genre. -- Now I sound like I'm selling something. LOL.

No but seriously, she'd make sure all the crap is kept out.

To be entirely honest with you I posted this thinking nothing would come of it but if even a subforum comes out of this I will be very happy.

Thanks everyone for your posts.

You of all people know we can't suggest moderators of sections. 😝
But I do agree that Iceh has a very good track record of writings and takes subjects to a serious nature while other seem to joke with it.
I remember when I suggested a writing section she was very adamant about it and I think she'd do great in making sure it is used for it's purpose.

An active and knowledgeable moderator would be needed if such a thing was made or it could come down to Mentors which monitor several sections in the mentioned area.

I did much of the same with the writing section.
Omni seemed to be a bit in between but felt that the community couldn't use it appropriately.
I think a new section of decent interests suggested over the years would be pretty interesting and keep things fresh.
While I understand that Omni wants a certain level of activity before considering a section, I do imagine it would promote users to talk about it knowing there is an appropriate section for it.

I'm supporting this idea.

I love photography, and a sub-forum or a new section for it would be great.

Photographers could share their opinions or tutorials about camera models, settings, ideas and equipment there.

I'd really like to see a photography section here.

And you just suggested her as much as I. Lol, I wasn't trying to suggest a moderator though, only
stating that she WOULD be a good one IF a section WERE to be introduced LOL. (grey area?)

On topic though;

I still don't think there's enough threads to warrant an entire section but if you take all the general
interest that has come up over the years and throw it all into one sub section I could see that
being active, sure. With things in the section includes, writing, reading, photography, cars, etc.

Would satisfy a great many people, AND keep the section number to a minimum.

Yeah that's my thinking exactly when I worded the thread and the title I worded it very loosely I think a section that covers multiple things could also be a great idea.
