No because the info on wikipedia is not precise, im in college now and teacher honestly hate wiki pedia. Wikipedia, is a source that everyone can edit, so most information might be true, but some are false.
Why do schools hate Wikipedia so much? |

It's easier to find information as everything is on one page most of the time. Teachers are supposed to teach you how to find information and wikipedia is completely countering that.
That and literally anybody can change it, usually it is people that know what the fuck they are talking about though (Dec 17, 2014 05:34 PM)GavNation Wrote: To all people who think anyone can change anything on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:...ion_policy Confirmed accounts on some I believe it says? I wouldn't think it'd be that hard to get one...
I just think teachers don't like the fact that you can go on Wikipedia and search for something then get legitimate information cited from multiple sources that easily. Teachers want students to use other resources such as books and other sites that they themselves deem legitimate.

Many of my teachers know that the whole "Wikipedia is all fake" statement is a lie but you'll still find many who legitimately believe it and discredit anything taken from the site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Introduction ''Don't be afraid to edit – anyone can edit almost every page'' now what, you sound to be unfamilliar, don't spread your bull shit around. All you need is an account and 10 edits and you can start editing the semi-protected pages which is usually the good shit.
Well, there is a pretty obvious reason for this.
In the early 2000s, the spam and protection wiki bots weren't nearly as good as they are now, I can't stress enough. So, a few teachers, professors, saw their students citing all this garbage. They ended up spreading the ill word of Wikipedia in workshops. |
