I feel like the deeper we get into technology the more traditional schooling fails to meet student's educational needs. Instead of focusing on remembering facts, I believe that schools in the future will focus on how to efficiently obtain, validate, and process information.
What do you guys think?
I don't know if that will be the case, but I hope you are right. Memorization is not a skill as relevant as it once was.

I definitely agree. Obviously in some fields like medicine/law you probably can't get around the memorization aspect but for most people I feel that learning information in this way would be the most effective. Not only will it allow you to learn a broader array of concepts it would also allow people to think and see the world on a wider spectrum and hopefully create ideas that they might not have thought of otherwise. 🤝
Yea as tech improve, memorizing facts is not as great as it takes seconds to get that fact with search engines, probably with more accuracy too as people are not always in their same state while machines are.
I think a big part of education is getting one to apply it. I think I read around 50% of graduates don't even work in a field related to their degree. It reminds me of a great quote im sure you heard before.
"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."
-Benjamin Franklin
education these days seems mainly about teaching and not much involvement.

That does make sense, do you think that more integration with data and computers is good for education and learning?

I guess there's no telling what social/economic consequences would result from this new system of learning but I would like to assume so. This system is more focused on creativity and educational freedom opposed to a traditional learning methodology. While some learning styles may not adapt as well as others I feel that they should at least offer this path to students because in it's current state the educational system is failing a large portion of the population that has different educational needs.

I feel ya on the current state of educational affairs. It seems like as technology advances and parts of society start to decline, the combination could result in a bunch of rowdy kids who are forced to sit at computers to learn the "common core" rather than a more natural style of learning such as Montessori.
I think the public school system in the US will continue on a downward spiral. Public schools in the US have become more of an investment and form of profit for private industries. If anything in the future, I hope they start feeding children proper school lunches and teach children agriculture.

The entire US public sector is on a downwards spiral.
I never really knew what I thought about school.
You get to learn some really good things and the feeling of community and friendship is great, I have always had issues with how your success was actually judged.
As you say being good at school always comes down to how good you are at remembering facts.
Probably a good way around this would be for teachers to be able to judge how well they think you know the subject, allthough this would introduce many other problems.
I think regardless of how they factor in your ability to learn and retain information, they are still never going to teach you a thing about money, and they are still never gonna teach you anything you actually need to be able to manage your own life. They will always teach you how to be an employee with the "Pick a Profession" mindset, and they will always make it difficult for you to capitalize on anything more than a minimum wage job!

That's the problem, useless facts will not get you anywhere in this world. Take the president for instance. He is not the smartest guy but has 1 billion dollars.

Yes, this is the whole problem. I seriously believe conspiracy theory or not. This is all done on purpose to get rid of competition and create consumers. The ruling wealthy elite class do not want smart and rich commoners. They want a populous of poor consumer peasants, as this creates the most profit for their class and guarantees obedience and corporate loyalty.

Oh, wow, did not know that. Crazy world.
Seems like a decent thread, went off into a rant. Hmm.
Ideas in = ideas out.
