To give the thread a lil' bit more meaning, the name JavaScript was chosen due marketing success of Sun's Java platform to this time - prior to this JavaScript was called 'LiveScript'.
This makes it even more clear that there is no true relation between both languages, except that both have their similar syntax which is originally from BCPL.

According to wikipedia Javascript was originally called Mocha, then LiveScript, and then finally Javascript.

But thanks for bringing it up as I think it's important for people to know the history of things like this.

You are right there, Actionscript was based on Javascript, but js was never really connected to actionscript in any other way
