Hey everyone, Kyle here. Edit: All Knowledgeable members are allowed to Critique.
Welcome to Scumbag's Unofficial Photography Critique thread. This is a thread where any user can post their photography to get feedback from the photographic community.
Remember, this is constructive criticism. I don't want people going around bashing peoples pictures. Also, I will allow cell phone pictures, but please keep them high quality.. I'd prefer we stick to High Quality shots.
If you are going to post your photos, please either put them in a /spoiler, or upload them to Imgur, Flickr, ect.

What you Like/Dislike about the picture:
1. I really like this picture. It has a feeling of darkness, or death. Kind of like a graveyard.
2. I like this picture as well. It uses one of my favorite technical components that I will explain below.
3. I enjoy this picture. I like the components you used to make it enjoyable to look at.
General feeling or Impression from the picture: Explained Above.
Technical Components - Focus:
1. Focus was good on this shot. I like how you kept the dead leaves in focus and the rest blurred, really showcasing the statue.
2. Focus on point in this picture as well.
3. Next time, try positioning yourself directly in front of the house, or cabin, so you can fill the frame completely. I think it would have helped with focusing. Everything about this picture is fine, but I think you could have enhanced it by filling the frame with the cabin, then focusing on either the posts in front, or the wall behind the posts.
- Exposure: Exposure is fine on all 3 pictures.
- Color:
1. Color was ok, kind of dull, but I like it still.
2. Coloring is fine.
3. I enjoy the green rocking chair sitting out front. Ill explain what you could have done better to make the shot even more appealing below.
- Lighting: Lighting is fine on all of these.
- Composition:
1. Try using 1 of the few rules in Photography, such as, the Rule of Thirds. This is where you turn the grid on your camera, and position the main subject on one of the 4 outer intersections. (Bottom left, right, top, bottom). I think if you angled out the plastic pot holder it would have looked better as well.
2. You used one of the photography Technics here, and that is Filling the Frame. Its where you completely fill the frame of the picture with your subject, like you did.
3. This would have been awesome if you moved the chair to the left or right of the patio. I don't know if this is your house, or someone else's but, if you placed it on either side, you could have used Rule of Thirds to make the shot more appealing to the eye.

I am actually going to change that rule. Seeing some of the quality.

General feeling or Impression from the picture: Mellow
Technical Components - Sigma 12-24mm
- Focus: infinity
ISO 400, F/5
What you Like/Dislike about the picture: Long Exposure! My favorite photography method.
General feeling or Impression from the picture: Really well put together picture, relaxed.
Technical Components - Focus: Focus seemed fine, but its a bit granular. I don't know if you enhanced the exposure to brighten it up, sometimes that happens. Also, were you using a filter?
- Exposure: Exposure was fine, maybe a little bit dark. Easy to fix.
- Color: The mountain really contrasts the rest of the background and matches the rocks in the foreground. Really cool.
- Lighting: Lighting is fine.
- Composition: All in all, a very well put together picture. The mountain side can be said to be Rule of Thirds, looks like its in the proper spot.
Nice work.

Only going to critique my favorite one out of the bunch. I want to give some other people a chance to critique.
What you Like/Dislike about the picture: I like this picture, I love the contrast between the shoes and the ground.
General feeling or Impression from the picture: Really relaxed picture, composition pulls it together.
Technical Components - Focus: Focus is fine.
- Exposure:It gets a little bit bright to the bottom left side. Probably just due to the sun leaking through the trees. Easy to fix in Lightroom and some apps.
- Color: Love the green leaves and the red shoes.
- Lighting: Lighting is fine.
- Composition:That shoe to the right is pissing me off! I like how the log guides your eyes into the picture and to your shoes. Then the green leaves guide to the left and right.
Nice work.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/ Only have time for one right now.
What you Like/Dislike about the picture: Like this picture. I think I critiqued one like this on your thread.
General feeling or Impression from the picture: Relaxed, Natural, isn't an attention grabber but, still is appealing to the eye.
Technical Components - Focus: Focus is fine. Did you edit the water to blur it?
- Exposure: Exposure is fine. Not much you can change on your phone.
- Color: Nice colors. Everything is balanced.
- Lighting:Lighting is fine.
- Composition: Well put together but, your not really using any of the main photography methods. Sometimes it doesn't even matter, some of the best pictures I've seen break the rules of photography. It just all depends on the situation.

- Exposure: Exposure is fine.

What you Like/Dislike about the picture: I like how you filled the frame, and I like how there is no background noise at all.
General feeling or Impression from the picture: Spooky, shady, dark. I like it.
Technical Components - Focus:Good job focusing on the center point. Next time you could try using the rule of thirds or other techniques.
- Exposure: Nothing wrong with exposure.
- Color: Color is just mellow. You could try using Adobe Lightroom to spruce up the colors.
- Lighting: Lighting is fine.
- Composition: Filling the Frame was your technique here and it worked relatively well.
Overall: 8/10

Opinions? Done at ISO 100, 50mm f/11.
Nothing too fancy, but I did have a bunch of flashes in my room this time and tried another realistic but unrealistic approach in Lightroom. The shirt was wrinkly as fuck, but I smoothed them out with dodge/burns.
Im not going to critique using the format rather, ill just give you my opinion.
Im not tooo into portraits but, this looks pretty good. I really need to invest in a couple flashes just to screw around with. Looks good though, really.
Bumping this thread up... Still need practice for my photography class.
Need some people to post their shots! Feel free to link them below!
