Yeah, coins have reached their mining limits before. And BTC will be one to do the same, usually the price will go up as there is a lesser supply and higher demand.

OMC
Is it possible to mine all the OMC? |
|
Technically, mining never ends. Every 100010 blocks (203 days), the mining reward halves. It started at 66.85 OMC. We've had one halving (https://omnicha.in/?l=10&s=100004) so far so the current reward is 33.425 OMC.
Over time the block reward will get extremely small, but in theory it will always be there. The idea is that eventually the block reward will be mostly made up of transaction fees. Thanks for sharing this by the way, it was cool to know. In theory, yes. Even if the price didn't increase, there will always be someone mining as the difficulty would drop very low, making it profitable again. That is correct, but there would still be some people mining regardless of reward or not.
