Friends are basically people that you use when needed and they use you when needed. As long as the using is relatively equal then it's considered a good friendship. There's gonna be some usage, but as long as it doesn't go overboard then it should be all good. From what you've said so far I can't tell if you're not getting any use of the friend or not. If you're not then fuck that person and move on! Not getting my knife and I don't get anything in return.
