Synopsis
Quote:The story begins with Yggdrasil, a popular online game which is quietly shut down one day; however, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard." The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) begining to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.

Initial thoughts
I'm glad to see another MMO inspired anime in the midst. It sounds like a mix between SAO and Log Horizon but will hopefully turn out to be better in comparison.
I read some small details from the Light Novel and it sounds like it could have potential.
Airing in 10 days. Hype!

Thread updated. Overlord is scheduled for 13 episodes. A bit of a letdown but I'm excited for it.
Three more days until it airs.
First episode was pretty good. It gave us a bit of a backstory and introduction to the characters.
Momonga is most likely going to be my favorite character, because y'know, how often do you get a OP skeleton as an MC.
The only thing I don't like is his voice. I wish it could have been deeper for being a ghastly skeleton.

Me neither. The OP reminded me too much of Death Parade.
I did a bit of digging and found out there will be multiple arcs, but if they will be applied to the anime, I'm fully not sure.
I'm excited to see how far this is going to go. It's really got an interesting concept behind it.
I watched the first ep this look very promising :D

I am glad the MC looks the way he does. It strays away from the MC looking bland and generic.

Same! Hopefully there is an attempt to cover all the manga, if not most of it.
I was a bit slow on the uptake these past couple weeks, my mind has been elsewhere.
Episode 2 was alright, more-or-less of another introduction episode.
It was cool to see how players were addressed as "Supreme Beings" by the NPCs.
Episode 3 was definitely much better. Good to see a bit of action.
Glad to see we received a bit of insight about the world he is currently in. I was disappointed that the episode ended mid conversation though.
However, I am thoroughly enjoying this anime so far, CGI is a bit eh, but I have high hopes nonetheless.
Also, I seriously cannot stop laughing at this scene.

I just accidentally saw this anime after looking on MaW for something to do, and holy hell am I in complete love. Log Horizon wasn't that great because the MC just felt so pathetic at a lot of key junctures, both in the minor networking between players and in a few key moments whilst SAO was definitely made as a safe bet that could be enjoyed by old and young alike, which in turn removed part of the beauty that could have been created (however if they just didn't skip around so much with pacing it'd have been made up for).
I feel this anime will undoubtedly fill the gap between Log Horizon, which did the world, some few psychological aspects, and interactions better, and SAO, which did the combat and love (albeit shounen love) moments better. I have high expectations for this gem I almost missed.
If I have any complaints so far it'd be three things;
• Its only going to be 13 episodes /Cry and unannounced if there will be more to come /beg
• That I didn't find this gem after its episodes ran, since I think it'd be awesome to not have to wait between episodes.
• That there aren't many anime doing stuff like this at this exact moment.
Another good episode, starting to get even better.
That knight was pretty badass against all those angels. Loved all the cool skills he was using.
I also love how Ainz is so much stronger than everyone else so far. That end of the episode name change though.

Agreed!
I want to see him actually struggling to defeat someone. Hopefully we get to see that in the later arcs if they are animated.
And yes! More Shalltear and more Albedo! I was actually hoping Albedo would have went all yandere that episode and end up slaughtering everyone lol.
