What Is Veracrypt?
I'm sure you guys have heard of a program called TrueCrypt before, right? TrueCrypt was used to hide hidden files and make sure they're inaccessible from public view. You would need a password (in some cases two) in order to view the hidden files. According to the VeraCrypt site, it states that VeraCrypt adds enhanced security to the algorithms used for system and partitions encryption making it immune to new developments in brute-force attacks. VeraCrypt also solves many vulnerabilities and security issues found in TrueCrypt. This can be incredibly useful if you want to hide files from "people" accessing your PC. Maybe you have all your passwords saved in a .txt file and you want them to be more secure. Maybe you have some programs that you don't want anyone finding out about. Whatever the case is, if you have something you want to hide, then VeraCrypt is the program you need.
You can install VeraCrypt from this site:
There are downloads for Windows, OSX, and Linux.
Creating A VeraCrypt Volume
Once you have downloaded and install VeraCrypt, open it up and you should get this screen.

Now click "Create Volume" and it should bring up this screen.

We're going to leave it on the first bubble which will create an encrypted file container. Click next and then click the second option to create a hidden VeraCrypt volume.

Click next and leave the volume creation mode on normal mode (the first option). Now click next and it'll ask you where you want to save your volume. I recommend somewhere that is NOT out in the open. Find where you want to save the volume, name it, and save it (also click Never Save History if it's not already checked).

Press next and then next again. Make sure the encryption algorithm is AES and the hash algorithm is SHA-512. Click next. This is going to be our outer layer. We'll hide stuff in here that isn't incriminating but stuff we might want to remain private. Don't hide anything in here that can get you in a lot of trouble. We're going to use the hidden volume for that. Now, give the outer layer enough space to hide files you want to hide. Remember, the hidden volume is going to be inside the outer layer so you need to give it enough space for both. Give it as much as you need - be generous with it. Be sure to select gigabytes and not megabytes. I've forgotten that part myself a few times.

Now this is the part where you fill in your password. Make this password something you know you'll remember. Practice it in your head a few times or write it down and hide it somewhere extremely hidden. I doubt someone is going to check inside your closet and inside your pant's pockets for a gum case that'll have your VeraCrypt password written on it. So if you're writing it down, HIDE IT. Once you confirm both of your passwords, press next. It'll ask you if you want to store files larger than 4GB here. If you don't, then leave it at no. I don't recommend putting it more than 4GB but that's your choice.
Press next and then you'll get this screen.

Press format and move your mouse around randomly on the screen until it's done formatting. The more you do this, the stronger the security (or so they say). Once it's done, it'll give you the option to open the outer volume. Once you do this, drag-n-drop anything you want in here. Make sure to not go past 4GB and don't put anything in here that'd get you in a lot of trouble. Now when that's done, press next.
It may ask you for admin rights after you press next, just say yes. Now once it starts talking about the hidden volume, press next. Make sure the methods are the same as the outer volume one. They should be AES for encryption algorithm and SHA-512 for hash algorithm. Press next and give it the remaining space. We won't be adding anything else to our outer volume as it could mess up the hidden volume so just give the rest of the space to the hidden volume and press next. Give it a password that's even more secure than the first one and refer back to what I said if you're writing it down.

When it asks you if you want to store files larger than 4GB, select yes and then click next. Leave all the settings how they are and click format. Remember -

It may ask for admin rights after a while, just say yes. Now once that's done, it'll finish and state that the hidden volume has been created. Now we're going to open this hidden volume. It'll take you back to the main VeraCrypt screen. This time instead of clicking "Create Volume", we'll be opening our volume. Click on a drive like Z and select the "Select File" button. Navigate to where your volume was saved and double click it to select it. Now click "Mount" and it'll give you this screen.

We're going to be opening the hidden volume. Now how do we do this? Don't type the volume you made for the outer volume as this'll only open the outer volume. Type the password you made for the hidden volume and it'll show up in the drive you selected. Now all you have to do is double click to open it and there you go. Hide anything you need in here.
After you have everything hidden where you want it to be, close the drive's window and select the button that says "Dismount All". This'll dismount all drives and volumes open.
With a hidden drive, you'll be extra safe. Your country may require you to enter the password to hidden files by law. If you're forced to, you can just give them the password to the outer drive which will have things that they think we're hiding but we're just using those as a decoy.
I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial. Please post a thanks if this helped you out to keep the thread alive. 🤝
