How many hours can you dedicate to your task at hand throughout the whole week? Describe where possible: Seeing as I would love to have some sort of input into this community in one way or another, 10hours a week could easily see my dedication onto the subject.
When it comes to writing in the English language, what is one strength and weakness you typically see throughout your writing?: One strength would definitely by my array of application, whatever the task my writing sculpts so that the outcome is as desired. A weakness seen throughout would definitely be my inability to be boxed into a writing authority. I thoroughly enjoy my style, and really find it hard to conform with structures for publication. Have you ever written for another team/group/purpose? If yes, please state who the group in interest is: Do you have a platform on where you can write large paragraphs comfortably?: Platform as in..? If you are talking about my own personal publication platform or just the ability to produce; either or im sure this answers it https://chumwrites.wordpress.com <- old work but still relevant nonetheless. Are you comfortable with doing the research required for writing the article yourself?: Yes 100%, researching on my own is definitely preferred as it helps me grasp the biggest picture/ input my own quirks into the researched information. Do you see yourself going inactive anytime soon?: Not really, have always dabbled in the forums as a viewer so don't see why actually producing articles would drive me to go inactive.
In solidarity.
How many hours can you dedicate to your task at hand throughout the whole week? Describe where possible: After classes and work, I'd be willing to commit at least five hours during the weekdays. Weekends are much more flexible for me and so I could adjust to however many hours that'd be needed to finish my task load. Five hours at minimum for the weekend.
When it comes to writing in the English language, what is one strength and weakness you typically see throughout your writing?: My biggest strength is being able to read from a 3rd person. When I write a post or give information to someone, I try to separate when the reader knows, and what the reader wants to know. An exaggerated but relevant example would be like trying to teach a high school student how to launch a space shuttle. There are a lot of pre-requisite knowledge you would need--like advanced physics, calculating heat dissipation through differential equations, astronomy, mechanical engineering, and etc.. The basis of a well-written entry starts by knowing what information your audience has access to. From the first word to the last, I attempt to fill in the "gaps" of knowledge through explanations. Writing becomes inefficient and pointless if your audience has no clue what you're talking about to begin with. Which brings me to my next point. My biggest weakness is time. When I write, I write slowly. Creating an entry requires research and double-checking facts. Creating factual inaccuracies are the absolute worst thing you can do as a writer--especially if your position holds influence. For example, I spent an unnecessary amount of time researching and thinking about best way to describe 'a person who goes to high school.' In my head, I went through the possible options of using: highschoolers, high-schoolers, high-school students, or high school student. No doubt that any of these options would have served its purpose just as well as the next, but it's definitely a weakness. Have you ever written for another team/group/purpose? If yes, please state who the group in interest is: I've never held a paid position in writing. My only formal contributions were for a professional Counter-Strike player on the website tarik.gg. The project was short-lived, and I only had the opportunity to write a couple eSports related entries. Do you have a platform on where you can write large paragraphs comfortably?: Yes. I have a suitable workplace that allows me to write with minimal distractions. My method of writing lengthy paragraphs usually starts by me opening up a fresh Word document (or Pages in the case of my Mac) and working from there. I find it much easier to read and re-arrange my syntax, and then just pasting it into my workflow. Are you comfortable with doing the research required for writing the article yourself?: I'm perfectly capable of researching information for my articles in the works. This is an excellent quality to have as a writer, but purposefully confining yourself like this can become inefficient. Asking people for help--whether it be for an opinion, leads for research, tips, a starting point, can save you so much time. Sharing information with your peers does nothing but good. It speeds up the creative process, and can help make mental connections to produce unique content. Do you see yourself going inactive anytime soon?: No. I currently have no reason to to inactive at this time. I am a full-time student however, and so there may be times where I may have to shift my focus throughout the week. I will try my best to manage my schedule and honor my time commitment to the Writers.

How many hours can you dedicate to your task at hand throughout the whole week? Describe where possible:
I can dedicate a solid fifteen hours per week, and an additional five to ten hours depending on my schedule for that week. When it comes to writing in the English language, what is one strength and weakness you typically see throughout your writing?: My greatest strength is also my greatest weakness. I have a subconscious tendency to write at a reading level that is higher than what most people are used to. Have you ever written for another team/group/purpose? If yes, please state who the group in interest is: If the question is specific to HackForums, then no. Do you have a platform on where you can write large paragraphs comfortably?: Yes. Are you comfortable with doing the research required for writing the article yourself?: Absolutely. How many hours can you dedicate to your task at hand throughout the whole week? Describe where possible: Throughout the week I am able to dedicate anywhere from 2-3 hours daily (excluding Saturday).
When it comes to writing in the English language, what is one strength and weakness you typically see throughout your writing?: When writing I tend to repeat myself as I get further into a piece as I lose my train of thought at the worst times. However I am able to bounce back relatively quickly to deliver quality work. A strength I possess is simply the ethic of work and dedication to the task at hand. I do not quit until the piece is so good that I would be willing to turn it in myself for review with 100% confidence in my abilities. Quality comes first in my writings. Have you ever written for another team/group/purpose? If yes, please state who the group in interest is: I have not written for a group, but have ran an essay writing service as well as written for several services. Nothing I have submitted was late or lacking quality, and I pride myself on this. Do you have a platform on where you can write large paragraphs comfortably?: Yes my setup is amazing. Are you comfortable with doing the research required for writing the article yourself?: As a student and military service member who has had to put maximum effort into nearly everything, doing the work required to produce exemplary content is no issue to me. Do you see yourself going inactive anytime soon?: No HF is life Professional writer for hire, PM me.
Good luck to all applying! The Wiki is great and we do need some new Journalists. Hoping to see 2-3 more journalists by the end of the week, so make sure to spend some time on making a proper application if you're interested.

When it comes to writing in the English language, what is one strength and weakness you typically see throughout your writing?: I have a strength of creativity and the ability to write unique paragraphs in a short period of time. A weakness I have would be that I sometimes make typos when typing very fast. Have you ever written for another team/group/purpose? If yes, please state who the group in interest is: Yes I used to write for a tech blog which then evolved into an Apple News Channel. Sadly, that blog has been discontinued dude to lack of motivation by the team. I'm also a novelist and a screenwriter, although I don't have anything publicized yet, you can PM me to see some samples of course. Do you have a platform on where you can write large paragraphs comfortably?: Yes I can do that on my MacBook Pro like I've always done. If by platform you mean software, then yes that is something I surely have. Are you comfortable with doing the research required for writing the article yourself?: Yes and that is what journalism is all about. I'm fully prepared to do my own research. Do you see yourself going inactive anytime soon?: Not at all, I'm starting to become more active now. [

When it comes to writing in the English language, what is one strength and weakness you typically see throughout your writing?: Strength: Fast typer and creative thinker. Please note that we're not fussy about perfect grammar or even spelling. We need people who can dedicate time to the Wiki, lookup sources and write proper information regularly. All your submissions will be edited for grammar mistakes and spelling, so it is not the most important thing. Just be sure you can write comfortably for long periods of time and do research.

As much as we try to give everyone carte blanche in their duties, being a journalist/Flagger though has its own rules and stipulations. The basics of them are:

How many hours can you dedicate to your task at hand throughout the whole week? Describe where possible: I have 6-7 hours free time every night after work which should be more than enough required.
When it comes to writing in the English language, what is one strength and weakness you typically see throughout your writing?: My weakness would be that I can sometimes rush my writing and not go into as much detail as I probably could/should have, however I'd put that down to the amount of writing I have to do at work. I've never really done any other form of writing outside of work so I believe this issue would be non existent if I were a member of the HackForums writing team. As for my one strength, I would highlight my strong vocabulary. I have an extensive knowledge of the English language and can almost always find a substitute for any word. I understand thoroughly what a certain word pertains to, where certain words are applicable, making the appropriate selection depending on the sentence etc. I have a lot of other strengths however I understand you have asked for one singular strength. Have you ever written for another team/group/purpose? If yes, please state who the group in interest is: I have to write summaries of incident reports at my workplace. Basically, anything that involves an injured staff member, damaged job, unsafe working procedure etc is followed up by an immediate incident report. I have to research what happened in thorough detail which includes interviewing staff members, inspecting jobs and machines, watching security camera footage and then write a report that goes to the production manager. Do you have a platform on where you can write large paragraphs comfortably?: Yes, of course. With the amount of writing I do daily, this is a must have. Are you comfortable with doing the research required for writing the article yourself?: Yes, 100 percent. Research is definitely not an issue for me as I have to research every incident at my workplace (explained previously). I would say I excel in research and that it is probably my biggest strength in general. Do you see yourself going inactive anytime soon?: No. |
