If you want to go a step farther you can even get the extension "Sponsor-Block" which automatically will skip all the sponsored portions of videos on YT, it's community ran as well so MOST popular videos by the time you watch them has already had someone else submit the sponsor of that video and its skipped. That as well as u-block have been a blessing for my YT Viewing binges.

Maybe use a dns based adblocker? So route your traffic through such dns that's configured on your router
