I'm just pointing out HF isn't as bad as people think, unless of course you make it so. Anything can happen in a case though, we've seen judges set examples many times. This doesn't do anything though accept ruin an individuals life unfairly. (Jan 6, 2016 03:07 PM)Hypnotist Wrote: It's up to you and where you do it. Well, again, refer to the name of the forum... legal activities aren't necessarily this place's forte, whether or not people here want to pretend that the feds won't care (which has been disproven). Again, we seem to be in agreement. Judges can unfairly punish people and ruin their lives over small shit.... so why give them that opportunity? This is why I think that VPNS shouldn't be banned, it allows users the opportunity to not be broadcasting who they actually are when they're discussing often illegal (albeit usually harmless) activities. Just because it's called Hackforums doesn't automatically make it a BH forum. You're missing the point here man. Omni owns this forum and he says it's not allowed. He takes risks. He's a US citizen himself, there's stuff on this forum he probably gets harassed over by the feds. Imagine. I don't believe VPN's should be allowed either. It would make tracking scammers/jackers/autists harder. I do believe though that we should have the option to at least make our profiles private. Make our posts hidden. What we're doing hidden. Because I feel like I'm being perved on a lot. And I'm pretty sure that's the case.
If the police asks for information and they have a warrant, they will get it.
Blackhat activities are not allowed on Hack Forums, thus anonymization shouldn't be necessary. I think I recall Omniscient saying that he has only ever been asked for information once, or maybe it was not at all.
If you're scared of getting caught for doing something illegal, it's your fault since you shouldn't be doing it in the first place.
tl;dr Fiat justitia ruat cælum
My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.
If you dont like that HF isnt BH then why are you here? I can fully understand that Omni doesnt want to mess with carders/trolls/pedos and all that scum. Also the amount of scammers would rise exponentially.
This forum is to learn basic stuff about online security and hacking, not on how to commit federal crimes. If you search forums that allow BH discussions, all i can say is that they probably exist, but they are very likely not to be public and on the clearnet like HF, and you are still at risk of getting caught even with your VPN and TOR.
The solution is very simple.
Don't do something here that would compromise your security, safety, or freedom. And for the maybe 1000th time. The blocking of proxies has helped HF remain a stable site by decreasing the amount of trolls, attacks, and ban evading scammers. We're a public forum. Don't do shit here. Quote:What do you possible do on HF that requires you to hide your identity? Exactly. Quote:The fact of the matter is, when it comes to an infosec forum, privacy should be encouraged, not banned. Doubly so if users have been grabbed in the past. Go find one of those then if that's what you're looking for. Privacy is encouraged here just not the kind you're talking about. HF is not a site for you to conduct crime and for me to hide you from the consequences of your own actions. And that being said...we're going on almost 9 years here and I can count on one hand the amount of times I've heard of a member being arrested in relation to hacking and actually every single one of those times was because of action taken off-site. There are lots of places to go and services to use to be 100% anonymous. If everyone here started to use proxies and VPNs I'd never ever be able to tell if accounts were stolen, shared, or sold. I'd never be able to recover them. I'd never be able to close an account based on suspected scammer. I do that and the entire Marketplace is F'd. Sales would go down for almost all sellers or they'd lose a lot of money to leachers, leaks, and scams. As it is now there is at the very least a certain level of accountability in the Marketplace and I can readily tell if an account is stolen or sold and involved with a scammer. Quote:Don't expect the rules just to evolve around your laziness. Or a desire to commit crime. This doesn't need to be such a discussion. It's a "take it or leave it" type of thing. If you're worried you have a couple choices. Leave or change your behavior here so you don't have to worry. I'd prefer you change your behavior and that's honestly why I won't alter the policy. I don't want members to feel like they can do whatever they want here. Quote:This is literally an infosec forum. That exact attitude- "do nothing wrong and you will have nothing to hide", is exactly what the infosec community is fighting against. He's closed along with his pal Radical_ed who are on the same IP. They do not get to define what my forum is. This thread wasted my time. |
