Don't open an account until you understand how it all works.
Investing isn't for everyone.

I would start by playing a investment game like : http://www.marketwatch.com/game/ ( it also has helpful information on it)

And I would check out : http://www.investopedia.com/
If you have any specific question I can help you via skype or PM

any good stock demo sites to try out stock marketing before doing it for real, and maybe make big mistakes that could be avoided with some practice? :)

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been asked before! :)

For a full service, generally they require a minimum of somewhere around $50,000 though depending the brokerage it could be much more, anywhere from $100,000+

Members here like myself aren't using it as a full service, they are also an online discount brokerage.
I believe for the full-service aspect you need $250,000 minimum.

I know it's sounds like a super risky deal to begin with, but how would I persuade someone to give me a small loan of about $500-$1000 if I have no business background, am between jobs, and no other income?

What I wanted to do can easily pull back the money for the loan, it's just an issue of getting someone to invest in the deal.
Help a 2009 out.. back from a 2 year hiatus, have a lump sum of around 15k. Looking to start day trading and would like your recommendations for which platform to start from and tools to help with success. At the moment I have complete free time. I just need to be guided/mentored in the right direction.
