Hacking, and its risks.

Hello, I hear a lot of people asking about the "risks of hacking".
I decided I might as well pop in and give my Two-cents.

Before I start id like to state, ALL COUNTRIES HAVE DIFFERENT LAWS.
CHECK YOUR LOCAL LAWS

First off, "Am I at risk of getting in trouble, even if I don't do anything that bad*".

Second, "If I am under 18, they wont really do anything..right?"

Third, "Now I am scared..what will they do to me if im caught??"

Fourth," CRUD, THATS SCARY :O what now!?!?? how do i stop this ?"

attempt to hack a government server. Including (all governments) but especially .Gov .Edu and a few others I can't remember at the moment ;P
Never try to hack a school, it will end badly.
Also, always investigate a target before hacking. If they seem to have the time and resources to track a hacker of your level ( you may be a beginner or a professional) I would highly suggest not attempting anything.

Now those were mostly for web/internet server attacks, if attacking machines (computers) again, NEVER attack government computers(To put simply, you will be seen as a terrorist, a traitor and unfortunately for you, the government does NOT care if it was for fun or just a low "unclassified" computer. You will be arrested on high charges.

Now some tips for staying anonymous....try to make sure you don't do anything dumb to get caught (example would be using your "real" email for anything hack related ;) ). Try to never put anything that could link itself to you (examples, using a username that you normally use for other things. InCLUDING for hackforums).
It is highly suggested to be ready to destroy the evidence of all/any type of hacking..I agree..except you may be charged with obstruction of justice.

Oh and a rule of thumb, NEVER brag about what you have done, and don't brag to friends about being a "l33t hAx0R". THIS will end in some problem's :P

This is a edited version of a previous post of mine , but due to me being unable to edit it because its past "1440" minutes (or 24 hours).

Quick Edit ::

Thanks too somehaxor for saying this , I don't think I really mentioned it above ^^ but here is what he said.
Quote:In terms of destroying evidence of hacking, this does not mean move it to the recycling bin and empty recycling bin. The hard data of what ever it is you empty still exists and it can be retrieved using a system recovery program. This is because emptying something out of the recycling bin just removes the reference of the file. In order to actually delete it, you will need to overwrite the binary data. I recommend using Eraser or CCleaner.
That is actually very true, when deleting something from your computer, you never REALLY delete it. It can still be analyzed whiles its in "grey space". So make sure you write over it .

EXAMPLE:
I have a txt file called "bob" .
Lets say bob is 5mb.
I erase "bob" and make a new file named "bob.txt" the same as the last and put it in the exact same place BUT this "bob.txt" is only 3mb.
It will only overwrite 3 mb, meaning 2 are still left.

understand ?

I am almost certain that Proxpn keeps logs. Look at the official video on YouTube and read the comments.

Well looking through their Privacy policy and FAQ's they have a "no tolerance" yet never say they shall report to the police.
Plus they have been suggested many many times.

I believe they don't keep logs but if they do, I am sorry :P
I have used them for a while and never had a problem

Hey thanks for this thread it is keeping me in line to not do any thing "black hat" for hacking. I just want to learn more about coding and other hacking techniques so that I can test the security of some websites. 8)
This is a really really really good thread! Enjoy your +3 mate!
Wow I just enjoyed your thread.Good work !
But how about posting some not very legal thread stuff here on HF ??

I post what I can to contribute :P
I personally believe that posting one "unique" (ok not so unique but not totally saturated ;P) thread is a lot better than posting a thread on a subject that has already been posted a thousand times :)

I will admit I am still a beginner , yet I do my best to learn. Once I have something "not very legal" to contribute I will :)
