[TUT] [.NET] Auto Updater (wyBuild Method)

In This Tutorial I Am Going To Explain How To Automatically Update Your Windows Forms Application Using wyBuild's Automatic Updater. (this also supports C, C++, VB6, Delphi, Java) Just Send A Pm If You Need Help With Any Of Them.

Before I Start I Must Add That You Will Need A Webhosting Account Or FTP For Update Files To Be Hosted On.

To Start Off Download wyBuild From Here
This Is A Trial Version For 21 Days But You Can Get
A Cracked Version (google it)
(no virus scan needed, publisher website)

After You Have Installed wyBuild Open Your Project And Under The Toolbox Right Click An Empty Space And Click "Add Tab" And Name It "Automatic Updater"

Spoiler (Click to View)

Now Right Click Inside Your New Tab And Click "Choose Items" And Click The ".NET Framework Components Tab" And Click Browse... You Should Find This DLL, "C:\Program Files\wyBuild\AutomaticUpdater\Microsoft .NET 4.0\AutomaticUpdater.dll" And Click Ok.

You Should Have A Pointer And A Control Called "AutomaticUpdater"
Spoiler (Click to View)

Add A MenuStrip And Create A MenuStripItem & The Text Will Be "Update" As So:
Spoiler (Click to View)

Now You Can Drag AutomaticUpdater To Your Application But You Must Anchor It Because Of The Text It Displays When Checking For Updates Etc For Example If I Put It On The Top-Right Of The Form Then I Would Anchor It As Top Right (text will be displayed to the left) And So On.

In The Properties Box For AutomaticUpdater1, Generate A GUID And Set The ToolStripItem To: UpdateToolStripMenuItem

If You Want To Hide The ToolStripMenu Then You Can Set It To Visible = False And On The Form1_Load Event Use: "UpdateToolStripMenuItem.PerformClick()"

THAT IS THE EASY PART DONE. NOW TO BUILDING UPDATES :)
I Will Skip Most Of The Tabs In This Section You Will See Why

Open Up wyBuild And Start A New Project
Input Your Applications Information
Spoiler (Click to View)

Click Files & Folders
Drag Your Compiled Exe & Other Files Into "Your program's folder" (always include AutomaticUpdater.dll)
Spoiler (Click to View)

Click Registry Changes And Copy As I Have Below Then Click "Add registry change":
Spoiler (Click to View)

Click On Download Sites
And In The Top Box Input Your Website Where Your Application's Updates Will Be Stored eg,
http://website.com/updates/%file% (always use %file%) The Folder Must Exist And Click "Add site"
Spoiler (Click to View)

Click On Upload the Updates
Click Add new site
Input Your FTP Details And Click Connect
Browse To Your Folder And Click Add Site

Click Build wyUpdate & Updates
Click Build wyUpdate And Save This To Your Desktop, Name It Whatever You Want
Spoiler (Click to View)
Click Build updates

Click Upload the Updates Again

You Should Get A Message If Successful:
Spoiler (Click to View)

Realeasing A New Version Of Your Application? Simply Click "Files & Folders"
Then Click On The "Add a new version" Tab And Drag In Your Updated Files. (for this to work you must create a new folder on your machine per version you release) Then Build wyUpdate & Updates Again Then Upload Them.

Preview Of The Whole Thing In Action:
Spoiler (Click to View)

Oh I Nearly Forgot The Most Important Thing,
After You Build wyUpdate There Will Be A Folder On Your Desktop Called,
"wyUpdate" You Need To Include The 2 Files Within That Folder To Your Application's First Version Folder.

Also You Need To Include "client.wyc" In Every Update Patch You Make For The Updates To Continue.

I Recomend You Use An Install Program Like "Install Creator" To Build Your Application Instead Of Just Zipping Everything. I Might Write Up A Tutorial About That Soon.

Thanks For Reading This Tutorial It Took Me What Feels Like Forever To Write Up. I Was Tired When I Wrote It So If You Think Theres Something Missing/Misunderstood Then Reply Or Pm Me, I Will Answer Any Questions.

I Did Write All Of This Myself And It Isn't Someone Else's Tut. (just to clear that up)
Fine but, doing a AutoUpdate is a simple thing, you make it look like a very hard thing you need plugins to.
Well, that's quite a complicated process for such a simple function.

Anyway, we can't have enough with tutorials I guess.

Yeah It's Diffrent But The Finished Product Alltogether Looks More Professional Than Most Updaters Via Lets Say For Example A .txt File.

You can probably use this to auto download RATs and Keyloggers

If You Included The Exe To The RAT/Keylogger In The New Update And Could Start The Process Of The Exe Within The Real Application Silently On Form Load Then Yep Its Possible.

The Updates That Are Uploaded Are Not Raw Exe/DLL Etc There Compressed Into A Diffrent Format.
i need to update the images, coming soon!
