Hey people , I am thinking about a little Project , an lightweight Batch music player since my notebook (getting new one soon!) Can't play a game and media player , media player uses about 100-150kilobytes which is alot if you only have 2GB ram.
Is there anyway to run music without using any other programm then batch? since it needs to be lightweight.
And i need a track selector but that wont be that hard just using if user input goto.. you know these lines lol. And link them to the song.
On one computer I have 1.50 Gbs of ram.
I can run games without lag too.
Batch in itself doesn't really read anything. If you start a program frim batch, it starts the default program for the file then the program opens the file.
If you say 'start hello.mp3', you're default mp3 player will be opened.

knew that just trying to find out if it is possible and i know batch only executes things just looking for things to do.
lets move to visual basic..
Code @echo off
Echo. hello %computername%
Echo. select your track :
echo.
echo. Artist Song name
echo.
echo.1.David guetta ft. Sia Titanium
echo.2.LMFAO Sexy and I know It
echo.3.The Black Eyed Peas Just Can't Get Enough
set /p input=
if %input%== 1 goto a
if %input%== 2 goto b
if %input%== 3 goto c
:a
start C:\Users\sammy\Desktop\musicplayer\song1.mp3
pause
:b
C:\Users\sammy\Desktop\musicplayer\song2.mp3
pause
:c
C:\Users\sammy\Desktop\musicplayer\song3.mp3
pause
How do i make it undependent (Now it requires my directory names to open up things)
i did not use batch for a shitload of time lost some commands , Now i need to make it independent , Yes i know this uses mediaplayer.
You realize that "goto a" will start all 3 songs? Not at the same time but if you continue the batch it will.
You could try doing :
echo choose the directory:
set /p cd1=
cd %cd1%
dir %cd1% /b
echo What song would you like to play?
set /p song=
start %song%

Also, you can't run a music player because you only have 2GB of RAM? That's nuts. I had 512MB of ram and I could run my music player, browse the web, and play portal.

i am not talking about lightweight games , i got games on lowest detail etc running over 200.000 kilbytes. with skype added (about 100.000 kilobytes..)
it adds up to a mayor lagg.
I had a netbook with 1g of ram running windows 7 32bit. I was able to play songs fine and even many videos.
minecraft + media player = lagg
Command and conquer 3 kane's wrath + media player = major lagg to freeze.
It might also depend on the media player...

went to the hjt , everything works faster now
This is an honest suggestion. But a cheap 15$ MP3 player from the dollar store and upload your music to that. Also you can e that as a flash drive and you can bring it anywhere. it is a good investment and solution.
