Don't want to sound like a idiot, but complete novice, help would be appreciated.

So a mate set me up a RAT ages ago on Cybergate (didn't really trust as like I said I'm a complete novice) but like I am wary as you have to turn off you firewall and such, what stop your downloading have a FUD one in already or a key logger or such?

Secondly, potentially how good can ratting be?

thirdly, I have a way of infecting people but how profitable can this be?

fourth - How can I be sure once I have downloaded it I am not infected by a Fud Rat itself and become someone's salve just getting them more salves, then when I stop end up getting fucked in the arse?

finally, anything else you could tell me that could help?

Thanks in advance, sorry if I sound like a twat..
1) You might need to turn of the firewall to allow for the connection to be made.
2) Ratting can be quite profitable due to herding, stealers and victims files.
3) If you have good traffic, very.
4) Download from trusted sources such as the Dark Comet / Cybergate website.

Yes, don't use a RAT. Get a VPS and setup a IRC then a good IRC bot.
I don't fully understand your question but here's a general answer:

1) Cybergate is a RAT, it will allow the creator to access your files/ see through your webcam, steal accounts, keylog etc. you have to turn off your firewall because it was not crypted, this makes it so firewalls/AV do not block it, he could have crypted it and asked you to turn off your firewall anyway, but its mostly dependent on whether its been injected into your computer.

2) Ratting can be profitable, as you can get account numbers, bank details, logins etc. but it depends what you want to do.

3) Again, depends on how many people you can rope into donwnloading

4) if you have downloaded a FUD RAT, your exposed until a. your mate uninstalls the RAT from your computer, b. your AV detects it or c. you reinstall windows.

5) If you have noticed things like your disc tray opening randomly, files appearing on your computer, your computer talking to you, anything suspicious, you may have been RATted

I think this is what you wanted, if not just repost and try to sound a bit clearer
I suggest you simply learn how a rats controls your computer
get process hacker (to look for unknown process)
get ccleaner (to look for odd startup entry)
get TPC View (To look for all outgoing connections on your computer)

Reinstalling windows does not always get rid of a virus as some have rootkits.

Pm me if you want a lesson for this
You can infect my computer And I can demonstrate how to get rid of it

Thanks for your reply it was helpful.

Erm I was kind of meaning say I downloaded cybergate what's to say that I'm not downloading a rat/keylogger hidden in the actual download of cybergate?? Yes my computer detected it as it was just the cybergate file, I'm not exactly sure how else to explain it..

Oh yeah i know what your on about, most are safe, depends where your downloading from i suppose, but most AV's will delete it anyway, as they are RAT's, when using it you need to disable your AV completely, When i was doing it i got to the point where i just uninstalled my AV, I know how to take care of my computer anyway and an AV is mostly a hindrance.

Ahh I see, I now a fair bit about taking care but I have AVG just to be safe as well. Okay, perhaps I may try this tomorrow.
