Some glaring MOTM problems. [JUDGE DREDD]

Hey guys,

I've noticed that the MOTM (Member of the Month) contest has several problems with it. Yes, I'm making this thread because Judge Dredd disqualified me from the MOTM a while back, and I was banned for 2 weeks for the reason being "Nonsense with JD". Yet, I still want to point obvious problems with the MOTM, regardless of my personal quarrels with Judge Dredd.

Let me start off with a story about why I was disqualified. I wanted to enter into the MOTM contest a few months ago, so I asked someone to nominate me. Note that asking someone to nominate you is NOT against MOTM rules (asking for someone to vote for you in the MOTM contest itself, however, is. Judge Dredd banned me for lifetime from MOTM and put me on his ignore list. I violated no rules.

Today, I noticed that two prominent members in this month's MOTM were disqualified - Glassy and Positive. No explanation was given, which leads me to wonder: Is there something going on behind the scenes? I've also recognized a pattern - Wolves, bugga, and xerotic are/were BFFs of Dredd and have won 3 of the last 4 MOTMs. (I'm not sure if iNviZ is in that circle of friends.) I've also noticed that Infallible is in quite a few nomination polls. Not accusing them of anything, but JD is obviously showing some favoritism when putting members on the polls.

Now to point out the numerous spelling errors / contradictions in the requirements / MOTM explain thread:

Here is the voting page link. I've attached the MOTM GFX as a spoiler with a description of the error so you can follow along.

Spoiler (Click to View)

1) whoever > whomever -- Grammar Mistake
2) positng > posting -- Spelling Mistake
3) considderation > consideration -- Spelling Mistake
4) acitivity > activity -- Spelling Mistake
5) that are chosen > that is chosen -- Grammar Mistake: Subject-Verb Agreement

Here is the "MOTM Explained" page link. I've attached the MOTM GFX as a spoiler with a description of the error so you can follow along.

Spoiler (Click to View)

1) is given each out month > is given out each month -- Reverse the words
2) every member can be nominated > NO. There are requirements, thus not every member has the potential of winning.
3) 23d > 23rd -- Orthographic mistake
4) is being made > is made. -- Use the right tense.
5) priviledge > privilege -- Spelling Mistake
6) to be suitable > is suitable -- No need to use the infinitive.

Errors continued: Spoiler (Click to View)

7) in consideration > into consideration Grammar Mistake
8) vice versa -- Why would you use vice versa? There are not comparable things that can be switched 🤦‍♂.
9) Everyone is allowed to vote -- NO. Only people with 100 posts and over can vote.

If you think that I'm angry about being disqualified from MOTM, I am. If you feel that any of the points that I have brought up are invalid, please feel free to discuss. I've worked hard on this thread so I'd rather not have it closed, unless there is a good reason. @ Staff / Mods If need be, please move this to the appropriate forum, but this is feedback. I don't think I've broken any rules. Thanks for reading.

Yes absolutely i agree with you .. i dont know why they disqualified you .. good luck fixing this : )
Good work finding the mistakes, anyway its just an award.
You don't need an award to help others.

Good job. This took quite an amount of time and effort didn't it?

I actually find these mistakes pretty blatantly obvious. Good thread anyways OP.

The thread took time and he put the effort in posting it.

Getting nominated for MOTM might be at JD's discretion, but I seriously doubt he's stupid enough to "rig" the voting himself. As far as I know there's not a public MyBB plugin capable of doing that and I doubt he would go out of his way to jeopardize his own administrative position for people he doesn't even know IRL.

Ironically, I also notice a pattern; Wolves, bugga, xerotic, iNviZ and Infallible are all reputable for their contributions to the HF community.

Well MOTM recognizes users who have made outstanding contributions to the forums. It shouldn't be biased towards users just because of their friends.

Who are you to decide? Staff are not obligated to post an answer everytime they close threads.

Hence the *rather not*. I didn't demand anything from the staff.

Which is all good and well, but the users still voted for the winner? I don't really even see the issue here? It's not like JD set up the competition with some LQ users/only his friends and the members had no other choices to vote for? In that case I'd agree, but I have to admit I agree with Riggs on this one.

Agreed, there might be a couple of grammatical mistakes, but I seriously fail to see how that's defined as "glaring problems"? It's more like "minor mistakes"?

I'm sure if you take anything regular on HF and stare at it long enough you'll find some minor mistakes.

you do know that one is only human. Other than that, I think op is just butthurt he is disqualified for ever.

I suggest you get over it. It's the internet for christ sake buddy.

Well, it's several mistakes...
He does that right to be mad.
Getting over it is never easy. It's always easy to tell the opposing party to however

Me being disqualified for no apparent reason isn't a mistake? Also, I think it's pretty odd how the same members keep recurring, but others who "deserve a chance" are not on the poll.

I think I've figured out that HackForums is on the internet. If no one cared about injustice on this forum, then where would we be?

On a different note, I'm glad that JD is trying to fix the typos: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?ti...id19644318

You may want to also mention that I was in the last 4-5 Motm polls before I even won.
Each time (except for I believe one or two occasions) I was nominated by a different person, most commonly Pluto.

I personally know that Dredd will hold posting the voting thread until he feels there are a good amount of candidates he feels worthy, so if anything, he does things to make it more fair.
Honestly, it's nothing really to get upset over, it's an overhyped contest usually full of corruption (people using MSN and PMs to get votes for themselves or other people).
I've even pulled out one month due to finding some of the people nominated unfitting and drama filled to just not have to deal with things.

As far as this months voting, I was between Glassy and THL, both of which are good friends of mine here, as you used to be Scooter.
Judge Dredd can read PMs of any of the contestants, and I imagine their friends as well to see if anything is going on.
As far as everything goes, I doubt Glassy has asked for votes, but he will be rather persistent on messaging people when he wants something, but I've never known him to ask for votes.

Scooter, you take this HF thing way too seriously.
You search on Google using methods to get accounts people want and then brag about posting response in Ub3r sections for free things, sometimes replying to 20 threads at a time.
If you are being helpful, it's one thing, but to brag and call yourself a rep whore isn't a very good thing.
It's in good manners that you don't nominate yourself as well as ask someone to nominate you, the difference between being nominated and asking to be nominated is what says things about a member's intentions and character and that is something I don't think you understand.
