As for the waifu thing, it's just a little fun, like cosplay, it is something some anime enthusiast partake in. Just like naming your favorite anime, waifus represent your favorite female character, or one you deeply admire based on personality or looks or both. Don't like it, don't participate.

Some take it too far and do outrageous things, but there are people like everywhere in all kinds of situations.

On topic: Waifus are more than just you're favorite character. A waifu is like pretty much a character that you love. "But how can you love something that not real!" because not everyone is as insensitive to only love things they can obtain and fuck. "But she's a cartoon, she can't even love you back" you think we don't know this already? Are you so insensitive as to only love something that loves you? Are views may be odd, and we know it. But we're not delusional and realize that are love is a hopeless one.
