Paint as first programming language?

(Mar 27, 2012 01:30 AM)bottomy Wrote:  Actually as long as you can save the image as pure (so not a specific format, since that will usually contain other data) uncompressed bitmap data from whatever image editor you're using. Then you could pick the colours whose bytes corresponds to ascii characters.

Ya, but how would that make it paint = C++ ??? are the code runable. Like can C++ compile them??? The title of this thread is paint = programming language.

when I got in I just saw the video showing paint colors = C++. that is all I saw. Right now this isn't the only website that is talking about it. Many other websites for programming are talking about it and many programmers are talking about it. Most even themselves said this is fake.

The video is basically saying that with paint you can code in C++ by just using paint.

So far never seen the code actually get compiled by C++.

Yeah it doesnt directly compile but if you remove the BMP headers then it should.

But you said that the video is fake? You can even test the BMP I posted in my last post to test it works.
In that video he just opens the BMP in notepad and sees C++ code. Nothing else, I dont see why its fake?

Uncompressed Windows bitmaps also can be stored from the top to bottom, when the Image Height value is negative."

So he just selects color values found within ASCII character visible range and Notepad shows that as visible ASCII text. Nothing magical.

And its possible too..

IT'S NOT A FAKE

DID IT BY MYSELF:
HELLO, WORLD! string multiple times in 24-bit BMP created in MS paint.

Code
72 69 76 76 79 32 87 79 82 76 68 33
Are decimal values for ASCII HELLO, WORLD!

Created 32 x 1 pixel BMP.
Use custom color feature and for first pixel set
R 76
G 69
B 72
and so on for other pixels.
Note that color values in pixel are reversed!

I never said it's not due able. Can you show us it being compiled by C++ or c???

The video is basically saying paint = C++ or C. What your saying is paint = ASCII characters.

My question would be how do you get paint to make a c++ source code file and then compile it?
Paint always includes that header but you can convert this BMP to a compilable C++ source file just by removing the header (BM- ---> last NUL byte)

Video isnt fake, he doesnt even try to compile the file on that video.

The C++ part... that is what I was saying. That paint equals C++. I understand what your saying. You can basically convert the paint to ASCII characters which can make up a text file or a C++ file etc.

The video and this thread is basically hinting that paint equals a programming language. Like paint can be used as a programming language. The thread title is kinda misleading. The video itself says that it's C++. What I am saying is would this compile into a C++ compiler??

I shared my opinion that it's fake. I never said it wasn't possible to due. I just thought the video itself was fake. The way he displayed it not showing the bottom part of the screen. The he says it's c++. yet didn't show it being compiled. That is why I thought it was fake. I am not the only one a few here thought it was fake. Google around and you can find many programmers calling it fake.

So I just shared my opinion and then get attacked for sharing my opinion.
I would like to see it get compiled in a C++ compiler to satisfy any doubt.

Like I said before I never doubted that you can't do such a thing. Buggy understood what I was saying before. I never did say that it's fake because this can't happen. I assumed it was fake due to how the video was created. Seem like he was hiding different areas of the screen.
I understand what you mean and maybe this thread title is misleading BUT on that video he nowhere executes or compiles that bmp with C++ compiler. So I wouldnt call the video fake.
You are right its not possible to directly put that bmp to C++ compiler because of the header. But on that video he doesnt do anything like that? Just opens the BMP in notepad, thats all.

Then why am I thinking that the video and this thread is about paint being C++???

From what I understand this thread is about paint= c++ and if it is true then the code should be compiler with a C++ compiler.

I am just trying to get you to understand where my posts were coming from. Maybe I misunderstood the video or this thread. I can only say that this thread was misleading. It shouldn't have said paint as first programming language. When I first saw it I thought it meant paint being a programming language a full blown language. The watched the video.

yes, I understand and it was my mistake to say it. What I thought he was claiming that with paint you can write a full blown C++ program by using paint. that is why I wanted to see the code to be complied in a C++ compiler. the mistake was due to the thread title and from others talking. I understood that the guy is claiming that you can write C++ programs via paint. So that is why I said that and yes, your right. My bad..
Just a small advertisement: implemented this as C# class. Convert any data to bmp. Open BMP and see same bytes there :D
Also allows to convert back to same data. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=2343137

Just in case somebody is interested :P
I coded a rat like this before.

Its super easy

Oh wow that is so cool! But yeah, wonder if it's fake. Good video though.

First off you can't simply make a bitmap file be a program because bitmap files have some extra data at the beginning and end and other formatting info here and there, but if you removed all but the data for the colors then yes it would become a binary array of numbers aka a program.

There is also a programming language which has a compiler that reads bitmap color pixels and makes a program out of it, but still a different concept to what's offered here.
