I did this to encrypt my bot that I spread through IM clients, email, and the like. My antivirus didn't detect the bot at all. I also uploaded the file and had it scanned by 20 of the most popular anti-virus programs, and only 2 of them detected it.
That's pretty damn good considering it was a sucky ass encryption in the first place.
It's not that hard and it only takes up a bit of your time depending on how long your encryption is for each letter and number. I would recommend at LEAST 20 or so characters for each letter and number.

Ahhh still doesn't hurt me as long as no one makes a runtime and scantime TUT this won't bother me. hmmmm i think wat i hate more then shitty keyloggers are tuts cause it doesn't allow people to think for themselves like i had to, then everyone has the right to call themselves programmer blah where was all of this wen i started errrr nice tutorial by the way.
