Python 2.7 is the easiest for first time programmers to get into it.
Once you learn the basics it gets pretty easy, since you have an idea of what you are doing.
Python 3.0 is similar, but it does not support many module that python 2.x uses.
So more people tend to use the 2.x series as more modules are available.
