Most stable Ubuntu version

Ubuntu Ultimate :) is most stable and very few bug
Do not install Ubuntu(neither version) although elderly ones are more stable. If you are inexperienced linux user and you don't want/don't care to learn, go for Mint.

Debian is the best choice.

And, btw, listen to Robby, he's very experienced and very trust able when it comes to linux. :)

I've been using Mint like the last week and I don't believe its very stable :/ and it was easy, made me feel like a pro at Linux and I, by no means, am a pro at Linux. So I decided to switch to another distro xP

Well I have a custom built gaming PC so I should be fine xP But I do want to use somewhat of a lightweight DE if it will have better performance because I am trying to be able to run my games on Linux via wine (while keeping a framerate of at least 60 FPS -that is, until VALVe ports over Steam to Linux). But then again, I want something that also looks decent because if I could get my gaming working on Linux at a decent framerate, I would be getting rid of Windows completely xP

ps: im on a dualboot atm w/ Debian / Windows7

Remember to get winetricks and playonlinux, they will assist you when trying to get certain games working. It's only really a matter of CPU and RAM usage, if you can do gnome 2.x fine that's alright since most people do. Only got one core and 200MB RAM then yeah i'd say head over to a WM and grab a 3-4GB Swap space partition. SWAP acts as virtual RAM and is also used for hibernation mode so theoretically if you have 4GB+ of ram and don't intend on using the hibernation feature like myself then you don't need a swap partition.

If you have an SSD, you can get "pretty" good performance on the swap partition.
Just get crunch bang. It's based on Debian and Ubutnu..

The early Crunchbang releases were based on Ubuntu and the later were based on Debian. So the current 10.x release is based on Debian. Ubuntu is based on Debian, but made shit and bloated.

You'll be fine, you can't have too much. At least you won't have to worry about being RAM fucked.
Robby what happend I Thought you quit the *nix section.

I did but unfortunately everyone in here has massive cocks, it's an unfortunate distraction that keeps me clinging on.
