Review:

Plot:

If there is any thing that this series excels at, it's plot. I remember thinking while I was watching this, "The person who wrote this is my hero."

There is not a single filler in this series.

Actually, there is hardly a single moment in this series that isn't adding to the overall plot. There were a few huge moments when I felt a million different things tie together, and it was an incredulous feeling. But once I felt that the series was completely over, and there was just a couple conversations left, it happened again, with details that were so important, but seemed so insignificant for most of the series.

They did a perfect job of telling you information when you needed to, and providing all the information necessary.

A perfect job was done at explaining everything that happened.

This series is a prime example, in my opinion, of a perfect plot.

Characters:

The characters in this series were great.

There was a point where I felt the risk of something bad happening to any given character, and it made me realize something.

There wasn't a single character that I didn't care about in this series... Okay maybe one or two..

But the point is, an incredible bond is made with every character encountered, even if that character isn't in the series as long as others. This series did a great job of making the characters appealing to the viewer.

At the beginning of the series, it is easy to think of the main character as a goof ball, and fairly useless. But what's great about it, is you can easily see his growth as a person throughout the series. You're watching the progression of the series while simultaneously witnessing his becoming of a man. Okabe's character growth was very impressive, especially for a series of this length.

Thoughts:

Wow. Just wow. There is nothing more that I can say.

I was completely stunned by this entire series. Just an hour ago, I finished the last episode, and it had me in an incredible state. It felt as if the series had complete control over all of my emotions, and an effect on my mind. When the series ended, I didn't feel sad that it was over, I felt fulfilled. The incredible feeling I had after watching this had me shaking on the ground, and foaming at the mouth... Just kidding.

I had to wait an hour before writing this, because thinking about the series before that made me just smash my keyboard with joy. That's a first.

I didn't realize how much of a masterpiece this anime was until the last 7 episodes or so, but the episodes before that were still fantastic.

The series conveyed extreme amounts of pain, and it was realistic. It conveys futuristic technology, and it was realistic. It conveyed a huge array of emotion from a vast amount of characters, each time capturing the heart of the viewer, and it was realistic.

There is a difference between series that seem fake, and series that seem real. Anyone can make up a story in their head, a story filled with wonder, and any creature or ability imaginable. But how easy is it to make that same story, whilst providing a solid explanation for every detail in it? The difference is: Effort. Time and effort were both put in to the creation of this series, and it shows.

The quality of the graphics wasn't something I was overly impressed about, but nearly every other aspect of Steins;Gate made up for that flaw.

This show requires you to keep track of details and really think. That being said, things were explained so well, and so thoroughly, even my 12 year old brother was able to enjoy this series. Although there is a ton of science and mystery to it, it's not to a point where it would go over your head, which is a good thing.

There isn't much I would change about this show, and I was really impressed with it.

This is the first thing I've seen which I feel is worthy of a 10, but for the sake of the review, I will give it a 9.5. The reason for the 9.5, is that it's not a series that would appeal to every person. I'm sure there's a few people who wouldn't absolutely love it. The animation was slacking slightly, and I'm sure there is a detail or two that I missed. It's either that, or maybe I just don't believe in giving 10's as a score. (Giving a perfect rating is basically an invite for people to come flame the series and explain why it's not worth of such a great score)

I recommend this series to pretty much everyone.

My Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ 9.5/10

MAL Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ 9.17/10

Great point that I strongly agree with. You could probably make an argument for Steins;Gate being a bildungsroman. Solid review.
I beat off to this:

Very nicely written, yet another great review from, Eminent.
Only thing is you should add a personal rating after each category like Characters I rate it 9/10 or such.
I will be watching this soon thanks to you!

I wish I still had this PSD I made awhile back. I could have uploaded it so people could have just edited the photos and what not to the anime they are reviewing.

Meh.

This. Dropping it early is huge mistake, especially when it picks up amazingly around there
Absolutely loved this series and I am glad it got such a quality review. Highly recommended.

Hmm, thanks for this excellent Review Eminient. I will have to check it out sometimes, after I finally have time to finish my animes:(
Thanks for the review. Has been on my list of anime-to-watch for a while, but now I will seriously watch it.
Great review, and it was absolutely a great show. One question though, when/where did they say that it was 1 year after the events from Chaos;Head? I remember that one username connection with the game, but I thought that was more of an Easter Egg rather than something that proved the animes were a part of the same universe.
