Hey I seem to be having issues with my phone (same model) and was wondering how you managed to root in the end?
What do you mean by unmount SD card?

If you have external SD card just go from phone settings and unmount it. It's a small risk but it get broken.
HTC users in general should avoid using SOC, as HTC offers a bootloader unlock for most devices which allows you to flash unsigned firmware directly (custom recovery, which in turn allows you to flash a root package) and if there's another root method specifically for your device, I'd suggest using that. For GB/Froyo devices though, SOC is a good program to have.

Yeah, that's true. For rooting Samsung phones SOC is maybe the easiest way. Of course there is different methods for different phones, but SOC is easy to use and very reliable.

I prefer Odin for Samsung devices, but its a pain in the ass for beginners because of the sheer complexity of the program. Sony offers bootloader unlocks for about half of their devices, and Flashtool is wonderful... some of the less prominent brands (ZTE, Huawei, etc) rely on SOC because there really isn't another root option for them

I guess you mean internal SD card? Can't be removed, just leave it there. Shouldn't be a problem.

Honestly I'm not sure does it work in Arc S. But it may work since there is support for other Sony phones. You can always go to the original thread, read some replies and see if any other have asked about the same phone.

I'm saying the same thing for you, I'm not sure does it work but there is a chance. Head to the original thread and look from replies if it's supported.
